How to get rid of the smell of your new oven by burning it in.

If you've recently bought a new oven, you may have noticed a strange smell in your house when you first turn it on.

It's normal if the smell is oily or something is burning, as long as it isn't gas.

The first few times a new oven emits odors, it is exposed to the extreme heat inside of the oven. The smell of curing is what this is.If you fail to remove some of the zip ties used to secure the inserts during transit before turning it on for the first time, you may smell the plastic melting and burning.

Belling explains that the smell and light smoke you may see on the first use is from a protective coating of oil that is used during the manufacturing process.
