How to get your old instruments to work on Rock Band 4 does the guitar hero live controller work with the ps3?

I want to use my ps3 guitar hero for Rock Band 4.The chart says it should work, but I can't get it to connect.I tested the dongle on my ps3 and it works.The ps4 doesn't light up if that matters.I apologize if I'm not supposed to post this question here.
