How To Hang Christmas Lights in a Bedroom

It is possible to bring a festive warmth to a bedroom with Christmas lights. You can achieve an attractive result by hanging lights in your room.

Step 1: The battery-powered lights are easy to use.

You can make things easier on yourself by using battery lights. It can be difficult to figure out how to hang up your lights when you have to worry about whether the correct end of the strand will reach an outlet.Use battery-powered lights in your bedroom to make it easier to turn on and off your lights.Pick out battery lights with replaceable batteries and purchase long- lasting batteries for them.It will make your lights last longer.

Step 2: Before starting, untangle the lights and test them.

If you have to untangle your Christmas lights, take them out of the box they came in.Plug your lights into an outlet if they are electrical. If you flip the switch on your lights, you can see if they are undamaged.Throw away any wires that are broken and replace them with new ones.

Step 3: Make sure your lights are long enough to hang.

Draw out how you want the lights to be arranged.Measure the length of the light strand and the distance from one wall to the other. If the lights are electrical, they will be long enough to mimic your sketch and reach the outlet. When the ceiling intersects with the walls, you need to secure your lights.Do you want to string the lights across the room from one wall to another or outline the perimeter with them?If you don't like the way it looks to have the end of the light strand going straight up from the outlet, try hiding it behind a coat rack or arranging it artistically on the wall

Step 4: Attach the lights to the wall with tape or tacks.

Step up onto a stepstool or small stepladder with a roll of transparent tape or a box of tacks.Put a piece of tape over the wires or push a tack into the wall between them to secure one end of the light strand.Continue until you have secured the entire strand. If you are doing the perimeter style, you need to secure a part of the strand with tape or a tack and move it across the wall. The strand should be secured at that point. If you are doing the zigzag pattern, you can move the strand to the other side of the room by taping it to a wall.Attach the strand to the wall.Do not push through the wires with the tacks. If this causes damage to the wiring, it will cause the electrical circuit to break and ruin the lights.

Step 5: Purchase and test some Christmas lights.

If you have to untangle them, take the lights out of their packaging.Plug them into an electrical outlet and flip the switch to turn them on if they are battery powered.Fix or replace any issues before moving forward. There are either electrical or battery-powered lights for this project. If you don't have to worry about plugging in, battery-powered lights may be easier to work with.

Step 6: Buy curtains and a curtain rod.

Purchase a set of white sheer curtains that you like.Pick out a curtain rod that is as close to your bed as possible. The size of the beds is 38 inches wide. The beds are 53 inches wide. The queen size beds are 150 cm wide. The beds are 76 inches wide.

Step 7: Measure and mark the spot where you will hang the curtain rod.

Measure below the ceiling where your bed is located and mark the wall with a pencil. If you want to make sure it is centered over your bed, subtract the width from the length of the curtain rod.The difference should be divided by 2.The curtain rod ends on one side and the edge of the bed on the other side.Use your pencil to mark these spots. If you have a bed that is 38 inches wide and your curtain rod is 50 inches, you should be able to see the edge of your bed on either side.

Step 8: The curtain rod needs to be hung.

The curtain rod should be installed above a window. While holding the brackets up to the 2 marks that indicate where the curtain rod should be, you can pilot holes with a drill. The screws should be put into the holes with a screwdriver. To make sure the curtain rod is straight, use a level. If you can't make holes in your wall, try installing two Command hooks that are large enough to hold the curtain rod.

Step 9: Command hooks can be put under the curtain rod.

The Command hooks should be evenly placed across the wall once the curtain rod is secured.Read the directions on the packaging to do this correctly. You will need to press the back of the glue against the wall, peel off the piece of paper on the front, and then push the hook against it.

Step 10: The Command hooks have lights around them.

Plug the lights in to make sure they are long enough, feed the strand up to the first hook, and hook it on.Simply hook one end of the strand onto the first hook if your lights are powered by a battery. The strand should be draped down the wall.Feed the strand up towards the next hook once you reach the floor.Continue until you have strung the lights around the hooks. If you have battery-powered lights, you don't need to worry about flipping the switch to turn them on.This is needed for electrical lights.

Step 11: Hang up the curtains.

The sheer curtain will make your faux headboard appear solid.Push the curtain rod through the hole on the top of the curtains.Put the curtain rod back up and adjust the curtains.

Step 12: Purchase a strand of Christmas lights.

Take the lights out after you have bought them.If they are battery-powered, plug them into an electrical outlet and flip the switch to turn them on.Make sure the bulbs are working.Fix any that isn't, or get a new strand of lights.A 100 light strand is enough for this project.

Step 13: You can hang Command hooks on your wall.

You will need to install damage-free hanging Command hooks that are spread out and staggered in height if you want to make a zigzag pattern on your wall with Christmas lights. The hooks should be installed as directed after reading the instructions. You should be able to install the hooks by pressing the back of the glue against the wall, pulling the paper off the front of it, and pressing it back to it.Make more distance between the 2 columns of hooks if you have an especially long light strand.Less distance can be created between the 2 columns if you have a shorter strand.

Step 14: From hook to hook, drape your lights.

Bring your lights up towards the highest hook you installed if they are electrical.Simply hold one end of the strand of lights at the hook.Feed the strand through the hook and pull it towards the highest hook on the other side of the wall.Pull the strand back to the other side after hooking it on this hook.Continue until you make a zigzag through all of the hooks.

Step 15: Clothespins can be used to secure photos to the light strand.

Pick out some of your favorite photos and hang them below the light strand with a small clothespin.Concert tickets and drawings can be hung up to add a personal touch.Stick with small, thin items that are made of paper if you want to hang other things. As a result of having to hold up the heavy weight, the lights may fall down.
