How To Install a Sliding Bolt
The inside of doors can't be opened with keys on the outside.
Step 1: You should gather all the things you need.
Step 2: You can choose a height for your bolt.
To make sure the bolt is level, mark it in two places.
Step 3: The main body of the bolt should be aligned with your pencil marks.
Step 4: Attach your screw hole pencil marks with a shallow hole.
It will be easier to drill in the screws with these pilot holes.
Step 5: The drill bit needs to be changed.
Attach the main body of the bolt to your pilot holes.
Step 6: Hold the staple against the door frame.
You can draw around it with your pencil.You have to chisel out a shallow recess for the bolt holder.
Step 7: Cut your pencil outline in half.
Step 8: The wood needs to be removed.
Step 9: Take a look at the fit of the bolt holder.
The position of the screw holes is marked.
Step 10: Attach a narrow bit to the drill and drill some pilot holes, then fit a screw head bit and staple into the recess.
