You can use your phone or tablets to control how bright your rooms are.It's as easy to install a smart light as it is to set it up in the app.You can use your voice to adjust the lights on your device.You can control the lights in your home in a few minutes.
Step 1: If your lights come with one, you should put the hub into your router.
Some smart lights come with a hub that connects to your internet service provider.You can use the ethernet cord provided with the hub.The hub will turn on when you connect it.Even if your internet service is down, you can still control your lights with a smart hub that has battery backups.
Step 2: Attach the smart bulb to the light fixture.
You can choose a light fixture in an area that has a good internet signal.Before you change the bulbs, make sure your light fixture is off.Attach the smart bulb to the old one and turn the fixture on again to power the bulb.The smart bulb may not work well if it's too far away.If there is a strong signal on the other devices in the room, check the connection.You won't be able to control your smart light with your phone or tablets if you keep the fixture or switch on.
Step 3: The companion app is for your smart bulb.
The companion app is needed to start setting up your light.Look for the name of the app on the box or the light's instruction manual, and then search for it on your phone or computer app store.Follow the on-screen instructions to open an account with the smart light provider.
Step 4: Go to the app and add the smart bulb.
The app should search for available devices to control.If you want to find your smart light, look for a button that says Find Devices or locate devices.To connect it to your internet connection, tap on it when it appears on the screen.You will need to enter your password to connect the light.Setting up your light may require additional steps.The screen will prompt you to set up the light.Your light may blink or turn off.
Step 5: The bulb should be renamed to remember where it is.
You should see a Rename option in the menu when you tap on the smart light.The light can be found in the app later on if you type the name of the room where the light is.Make sure your light is easy to say, if you plan on using voice controls.
Step 6: You can use the light in the app.
Before you start, make sure the light is on.Select the light you want to control from the app on your phone or tablet.You can test out different lighting options when a menu pops up.It's possible to control all the lights in one room at the same time with some apps.
Step 7: You can control the light with the on or off button.
The light should be in the center of the screen.Find the prompt that says On/Off.To turn your light on or off, tap the button.If your phone and light are on the same network, your light should respond within a few seconds of pressing the button.If you want to turn your lights off again, use your app instead of using the switch.You can change between a warm white, which is yellow, or a cool white that is blue.Pick the color that works best in your space.
Step 8: The light's brightness can be adjusted.
You can adjust the brightness by looking at the sliders on the light's menu.To dim your bulb, drag the slider to the left or right.
Step 9: Use the wheel to change the light's color.
You can change the color of the bulb if you want something other than white.To see how the hue of your smart light changes, drag your finger around the color wheel.You can save the color as a preset so you can easily change it back to it.The brightness of the colored bulb can be adjusted using the sliders on the bottom.
Step 10: When the bulb turns on, try the timer function.
Tap on the bulb while you locate the timer function.You can make a schedule by changing the times when you want to light up.The light will stay on when the timer is active.Some smart lights don't have a timer function.If you set a timer, you can still control the light.
Step 11: Go to the Home app.
All of the smart devices connected to your device are controlled by the Google Home app.If you don't already have the app, go to the main menu page and download it.In the app stores, you can find the Google Home.You can purchase a device from a store.
Step 12: You can add a new device by clicking the "+" icon.
The plus sign is used to add new devices to your home.You can find the icon near the center of your screen by tapping it.
Step 13: Pick the light's manufacturer by tapping the "Have something already set up" prompt.
Since you already set up the smart light through the companion app, you won't be able to directly connect to it.If you tap on the "Have something already set up?" prompt, you will get a list of smart device manufacturers to choose from.Pick the manufacturer you want to connect your light to.
Step 14: After your smart light appears, click "done"
A list of bulbs connected to the account will appear when you select the manufacturer.You will be able to control your lights with the help of Google Home once they show up.You can confirm the lights with the Done button.
Step 15: Go ahead and say "Hey" followed by your command.
Stand near your device so it can hear what you're saying.If you want to turn on your lights, say, "Hey Google, turn off..." followed by the name of your light.You should have the light turn on by the time you say the command.When you want to turn the light off, say something like, "Hey Google, turn off..." and your smart light's name.You can use your Home to change the colors and brightness.You can say, "Hey Google, change smart light to blue."
Step 16: Go to the side menu and select "Smart Home".
Your Amazon devices can be controlled by the Amazon Alexa app.Log in to your Amazon account with the app on your phone or tablets.To access the smart devices already connected to your Amazon account, open the menu on the left side of the screen and select "Smart Home".You can find the app for free on the store.
Step 17: At the bottom of the screen, you can find the phrase "Your Smart Home Skills".
You can control your smart devices with your voice.Go to the "Your Smart Home Skills" button on your screen.You can open the skills list on your Amazon device by clicking on the button.
Step 18: Click "Enable Smart Home Skills" if you want to find the manufacturer of the smart bulb.
You can find theEnable Smart Home Skills in the center of your screen.A list of skills will appear after you click it.The search bar can be used to find the manufacturer of your smart light.To add the manufacturer to your skills, tap on it when it appears.If you already have a smart device from the manufacturer attached to Amazon, you don't need to search again.
Step 19: To find your smart bulb, select "Discover Devices".
You can find the "Discover Devices" option on the screen after selecting your manufacturer from the skills menu.The device will be connected to your Amazon device through the app.If the light doesn't show up when you look for devices, turn it off and restart it.
Step 20: Your command is to control the bulb.
You can start using your voice to control your light when the device is connected.If you stand near the device, say "Alexa" until it lights up.Give the command you want your light to do, such as turning on or changing color.The command should prompt the light to respond.If you don't want to use your voice, you can still control your light through the app.
