How To Make a Christmas Tree at Home

During the holiday season, make your own Christmas tree. You can make your own cone-shaped tree, create a paper accordion tree or upcycle a soda bottle into a Christmas tree. You will get a unique Christmas decoration to display in your home or gift to a friend with all of these methods.

Step 1: Wrap the piece of paper around the cone shape.

Pull the back-side of the top right corner toward the bottom left corner if you are in a landscape position.Pull the top left corner of the paper to the right. The end of the cone should be adjusted until it forms a sharp point.

Step 2: The cone shape can be secured with a hot glue gun.

Put a thin line of hot glue under the outside edge of the cone to stop it from unraveling.Hold the fold in place for 30 seconds to help the glue adhere to the paper. The hot glue can burn your skin, so ask your parents to help you use the glue gun.Wait 5 minutes for the glue to dry.

Step 3: The cone needs to be trimmed so that it can stand upright.

Use a pair of scissors to cut the bottom of the cone.Cut further up the cone if you want a shorter tree.If the cone doesn't sit flat on the table after you cut it, trim it down to a more even shape.

Step 4: Glue a string of beads or tinsel around the cone.

Attach the string to the tree using a hot glue gun.If you want the glue to stay on the tree, place it on 3 centimetres of the string at a time.Thin tinsel, artificial pearl strings, and glittery rope are great options for a tree.

Step 5: Make the tree look festive with decorations.

Attach your Christmas decorations to the tree with a dot of hot glue.Stars, bows, and pom poms can be fun.The decorations should be spread evenly around the tree.

Step 6: An A4 green piece of paper is used to draw a Christmas tree.

Try to use the full length of the A4 piece of paper, as this ensures that your tree won't be too small once it is folded. You should not include the tree trunk in your drawing, as a straw will act as the trunk.White paper and colour can be used to decorate your Christmas tree. You can find a Christmas tree template online if you have trouble drawing a tree.

Step 7: Use a pair of scissors to cut out the tree.

Cut inside the line you drew. The pencil marks will not be seen on the tree.An adult can help you cut the tree out.

Step 8: Use 1 cm accordion folds to fold the tree from one end to the other.

At the base of the tree, make a 1 centimetre upward fold.Turn the tree over and make another fold.Continue until you reach the top of the tree.As this will help them stay in place, try to make the folds crisp.

Step 9: A hole punch can be used to make a hole in the tree.

There is a dot in the middle of the tree.Hold the folds together tightly while you punch a hole in the dot.It is easy to identify where the hole will be made with single hole punches.

Step 10: Attach a paper straw to the hole.

The paper should be pushed down the straw until it reaches the middle. The red, gold, and silver coloured straw is great for Christmas.Paper straws can be purchased from a craft store or supermarket. If you don't have a paper straw, use a plastic one.

Step 11: Place the tree over the straw by unfolding the paper.

Pull on the folds to move them up or down. When each fold is an even width, keep rearranging the tree. The straw must be left uncovered to act as a trunk. If your tree is too small, trim the straw to your desired length. The tree doesn't stand on its own.

Step 12: There is a Christmas tree on a soda bottle.

Start the trunk at the base and draw the tip of the tree on the bottle.Use a permanent marker to draw the tree onto the bottle. You can find Christmas trees online to help you decide on the shape of your tree. The most popular option is triangular shaped trees.

Step 13: Remove the base of the bottle from the Christmas tree.

To make a small hole on the edge of your Christmas tree, use the tip of the scissors.Cut around the Christmas tree outline with one blade of the scissors. The bottle should be left at the bottom of the tree to allow it to stand on its own.If you can't make the initial cut, use a craft knife.

Step 14: You can paint the tree green.

A thin layer of green paint is applied to the tree.If you brush the paint in the same direction, it will create an even surface and prevent air bubbles from forming.Water-based paints will work for this activity.

Step 15: Wait at least 60 minutes for the paint to dry.

The tree won't be knocked over if you leave it in a safe place. After an hour, touch the paint to make sure it's dry.Leave it to dry for 30 minutes if it is still tacky. If you leave your Christmas tree out of the wind, it won't get knocked over while it is drying.

Step 16: You can decorate your tree with drawings and accessories.

Draw or paint patterns on your tree, such as stars, zig-zags, spirals, or snowflakes.Attach accessories to the tree with a hot glue gun.Bows, sequins, and diamantes are eye-catching.If you want to draw on the tree, use a permanent marker.
