How to make a cricket trap with a plastic bottle and a piece of plastic.

There hasn't been any good cricket traps, but I was reading on the net that people from all over wanted one. There is an old screen. It must be in good shape. There is a bean crate or similar box.The gun was stapled.I bought a camping light from Wal-mart and it was blue or red.Scissors6.Some bait.Water vegetables work best.I am using baby carrots.

If you don't have a junk screen, you can buy some from Lowes.Take the screens off your windows. You don't need a crate, just a box, and you can use a desk stapler for the box.If you have a crate, the slots will attract buggies and the screen is 1 inch bigger than the bottom.Don't worry about the corner flaps, you can staple your screen to the bottom of your crate or box.It doesn't need to be pretty, just for bugs, so just tuck them and staple them. The screen is to keep the crickets in.The crickets scale the screen.

The light should be in the center of the box to attract crickets. The extra bugs will be bonus chicken feed and fishing bait."Come to the light crickets".

The main reason is for crickets, but bonus bugs are a good surprise.I am using baby carrots.

If you have a backyard, put the trap in your backyard along the fenceline. Otherwise, leave it on the side of your garage.Make sure your trap lid is open wide for all bugs by keeping it proped open with a stick or screwdriver.Go inside and turn on the light.

Before the sun comes up, take the prop rod out and close the lid. you will notice you caught crickets and other bugs. You caught them!Feed em to your chickens if you go fishing or save em for your fish.Start over when you empty the trap. There are a lot of bugs. Those are bonus bugs.

I built one and it was a good one, but it didn't catch any crickets after three attempts.I used several different fruits and vegetables as bait and tried putting it in a dark corner of the yard, but it didn't work out.

If all sides of the box are covered with a screen, how do the crickets get in?If you cut holes in the screen to let them in, what should they do to get away?Anyone?

One way to speed it up is to lay an old flannel blanket on the ground next to some tall grass or weeds and run through it.The bugs will run from you and get their feet caught in the blanket.
