How To Make a Light Up Headboard

A lot of space is taken up by Headboards. If you are looking for a stylish, cost-effective way to accentuate your bed, a light up curtain headboard may be the perfect choice.A few items from a department store can be used to create a light up headboard.

Step 1: You should gather your materials.

If you have the right materials, it's easy to make your own light up headboard. You will need a curtain rod, 300 light boxes of white mini lights, a package of 18 small command hooks, and a sturdy chair or ladder.

Step 2: The chair or ladder is sturdy.

Standing on your bed won't give you the height or stability that you'll need to build your headboard, so use a sturdy chair or ladder instead.Push your bed away from the wall and place your chair or ladder next to it.You might want to have someone hold your chair or ladder while you hang it.

Step 3: The curtain rod needs to be hung.

You can extend the curtain rod to this length by measuring the width of your bed.Hold the curtain rod against the wall to see how high you want it to be.The curtain rod can be placed an inch or two away from the ceiling.Make sure that the placement allows the curtains to hang down past the top of the mattress. After you have decided on where to hang your curtain, use a pencil to mark the places you will need to drill and then drill the curtain rod in place. This will help to make sure the curtain rod is level and where you want it to go.

Step 4: Under the curtain rod, place the Command hooks.

The Command hooks need to be secured after your curtain rod is in place.Command hooks are needed to hang the mini lights. The curtain rod has Command hooks under it.Remove the protective covering from the wall side to secure the Command hooks.Place the wall side of the glue against it.After removing the protective cover, press the command hook against it for about 30 seconds. This process can be repeated with all of the hooks.Make sure you keep the hooks on an even level and that you space them out evenly as well.

Step 5: The command hooks hold mini lights.

Take your mini lights out of their boxes. The cords may need to be untangled a bit.The lights should be hung on one of the hooks. If you want to have a continuous chain of lights, you need to connect the ends. You should leave a plug available to connect to the wall.If you don't have an outlet within the area of your bed, you can either use an extension cord or leave some excess cord to plug in the lights.

Step 6: You can add curtains to the curtain rod.

Take your curtain panels out of their packages and fan them out. Then, thread the curtain rod through the openings. The curtain rod should be hung back up when you are done. The backs of the panels should be hung towards the wall. There should be a visible hem and sometimes a tag on the back of the curtains.

Step 7: The curtains should be arranged.

Take some time to arrange the curtains so that you can see what you want it to look like. You can either bunch them together or fan them out to change their appearance.Make sure that the mini lights stay against the wall as you arrange your curtains.

Step 8: You should put your bed back in place.

The light up headboard is finished after you have finished arranging the mini lights. If you want the curtain to hang, leave a little space for the bed.Plug in the lights and enjoy.

Step 9: Use different colors.

It makes a pretty headboard if you go with white on white. You can experiment with different colors to match your room décor. If you want to change the curtains and light colors, choose something that matches your style. If you want to use multicolor lights behind a sheer black curtain, you could use sheer pink curtains with purple mini lights.

Step 10: The lights should be left out more or less.

If you want to change the look of your headboard, you can either spacing out the lights or bunch them up a bit more. While using fewer lights will give your headboard a softer look, using more will make it bright and bold.If you want a softer look, try using just one string of lights, or three boxes of light.

Step 11: Add some adornments.

Adding some adornments to the curtain rod is another way to personalize your bed.You have the option of choosing something that works with your room décor.A garlands of faux flowers, strings of beads, feather boas, and long thin strips of colorful fabric are some of the options.
