How To Make a Nunchaku

Nunchaku are a traditional martial arts weapon that is made of two sticks that are connected by a rope or a chain on one end.The Nunchaku can help you improve your posture and develop quicker movements of the hands. There are many ways to make your own Nunchaku, whether you're a student of martial arts or just a fan of movies. You can make them out of a variety of materials. If you want to learn how to make your own Nunchaku, see Step 1.

Step 1: Get two wooden sticks.

They should be about the length of your forearm, the distance from your elbow to your wrist, or about 4 to 1 inch thick in diameter. You can make them look threatening by painting them black or another color.Keeping the wood bare can be nice.If you're shorter than 6 feet and taller than 16 feet, the Nunchaku should be able to go around your body. You won't be able to use them effectively if they're too small. If you can't find two smaller dowels that are the same size, you could get a larger one and use a hand saw, jigsaw, or a band saw to cut it into two pieces.

Step 2: Get 2 feet of rope.

If you're taller than 6 feet, the rope or rawhide string should be at least 2 feet long. The best bet is to get some nylon braided rope. You can buy more rope and cut it to meet the requirements. You won't have as much rope between the nunchucks because you will have to tie each end of the rope to the dowels.

Step 3: There is a hole in the top of the dowel.

The hole should be wide enough to fit the rope into and deep enough into the stick to hold it.Depending on the diameter of your Nunchaku, use a thinner drill bit or a larger one.

Step 4: A small hole can be drilled through the side of the dowel.

You should drill a smaller hole through one side of the dowel so that the rope can be looped through this hole and the top hole so you can tie it in.The rope can go through this hole if it reaches the main hole.If the hole is too close to the top, the rope may come out of it after frequent use.

Step 5: Feed the end of the rope through the side hole.

Tie it tightly to hold it in place.Make sure you leave enough room for you to securely tie the end of the rope in place.

Step 6: This process can be repeated with the other end of the rope.

You can secure the other end of the rope to the wooden dowel if you secured the first end.

Step 7: Attach the top holes with glue.

To add stability to the Nunchaku, use regular glue or crazy glue.

Step 8: Finished.

Get ready to use those nunchucks if you wait a few minutes for the glue to dry.You can start to learn nunchuck skills.

Step 9: You should get a piece of the pipe that is at least 7 feet long.

The diameter of the pipe should be 34 inches. You will need tools to cut the piece into two parts. The Nunchaku shouldn't be too heavy or dangerous if the pipe is hollow.

Step 10: Cut the pipe into two pieces.

The length of each pipe should be as long as the distance from your wrist to your elbow, which is about one foot.It might be a little longer if you are over 6 feet tall.

Step 11: Place the end caps on the pipe.

It is possible to secure the end caps on the ends of each length of pipe with the help of PVC cement.

Step 12: To drill a hole in the end cap, use a power drill.

Step 13: The eyes should be put into the holes.

Attach them until they are nice and snug. The eyes should be about 12 inch in diameter.

Step 14: The ends of the chain need to be connected.

Take a 12-inch piece of metal chain and use needle nose pliers to open the link at each end so it can be put around the screw eyes. The screw eye is essentially another link in the chain if you place each opened link around it.This should be done at both ends of the chain.

Step 15: The electrical tape should be wrapped around the pipe.

Wrap the electrical tape around the pipes as you please. You can either cover the entire pipe or leave the end caps out and make a pipe with two colors.Black tape will give your Nunchucks a more sophisticated look.

Step 16: Finished.

You are all done!Enjoy training with your home-made weapon.

Step 17: Two foam tubes are cut into sections.

If you don't have tubes of that length, you can use a sharp knife or X-Acto knife to make two foam tubes. If you are making these for a child, they may be a bit smaller than one foot each, because they should be about the length from your wrist to your forearm. The foam nunchucks are a perfect addition to a Halloween costume and are completely safe to use, but they are not the most effective.

Step 18: A hole can be created from one side of the tube to the other with a pen.

A hole should be made from one end of the tube to the other. The tube's top should be about 1/2-1 inch down.

Step 19: Tie the ends together with a pipe cleaner.

Take about 3 inches of pipe cleaner, run it through the two holes on one tube, tie it together at the top of the tube and leave about an inch of space. You have two tubes with two little pipe cleaner circles at the top, if you repeat the process on the other tube.

Step 20: Attach a rope to the pipe cleaner circles.

Take a thin piece of rope that is around 3 feet long and tie it to the pipe cleaner circles you created.Leave 2 inches on each end of the rope.

Step 21: It was finished.

Enjoy your light, Nunchaku!
