How To Make a Paper Popper

A paper popper is a great prank. If you snap the paper down using the right technique, you can create air pockets that will make a loud popping sound. You just need a piece of paper and some wrist power to make your own popper.

Step 1: The sheet of printer paper is 22 by 28 cm.

You can take a piece of paper out of your notebook if you don't have printer paper. If you want to use larger or smaller paper, you can use a standard piece of A4 printer paper. You need to make sure you are using rectangular paper.Even though notebook paper is not as strong as printer paper, it still works well. It's a good size to start with as it is easier to fold. The longer sides should be on the top and bottom of the paper.

Step 2: The bottom fourth of your paper should be folded up.

Attach a crease by folding the paper up on a horizontal fold. The paper should be folded away from you.The crease can be created by running your finger along the bottom edge.

Step 3: The paper should be folded up by another 2.5 inches.

1 inch (25mm) of unfolded paper should be left when you're done. It's okay if you have less than 1 inch.

Step 4: To fold your paper in half, flip it over.

The unfolded portion of your paper should be on the bottom. The paper should be folded on a horizontal crease. The bar should be visible again when you make this fold. With your folds on the outside, you will have a square shape.

Step 5: The folded bar on the top of your paper has a popper on it.

Pinch the folded edge of your top bar with one hand. You should grab the bottom corner with your other hand.Pull the bar up and out as you push the unfolded portion of the paper in a different direction. You will see that you created two pockets from the folded bar.You should pinch the bottom corners of your paper.

Step 6: Don't pinching the unfolded portions of the paper.

Don't pinch the paper too hard. You won't be able to snap it if you hold down the unfolded part in the middle. It's like holding a paper airplane upside-down.Look inside the popper. You should have made two air pockets. You will release the unfolded section of paper when you snap the popper open. The unfolded paper has freedom to move, so make sure you don't hold the bottom edge of it.If you want to make more noise, you can open the air pockets and stretch out.

Step 7: The popper needs to be snapped down.

Bring your arm down, like you're bouncing a ball. The air pockets should make a cracking sound. The paper can be snapped in the air or down on the desk.To give it more force, snap your wrist down as you bring your arm down.

Step 8: A piece of printer paper is 22 by 28 cm.

A sheet of paper is needed to make this popper.A standard sheet of paper works well.If you want to use larger or smaller paper, you can use the standard piece of A4 printer paper. You need to make sure you are using rectangular paper. You can use notebook paper as well. The notebook paper is not as heavy and will still work. The longer sides of your paper should be on the top and bottom of the table.

Step 9: To use as guides, crease the paper.

The paper can be folded in half on a horizontal crease. If you want to unfold it again, fold it in half widthwise. You should have four horizontal and four vertical crease in your paper. It will look like a cross.

Step 10: The paper is folded inward.

The horizontal crease should line up with the edge of your folds. There should be two triangles on either side of the paper when you are done with the four folds.Think of folding each corner as if it were a paper airplane. There is a section of unfolded paper in the middle between your folds.

Step 11: The popper should be folded in half to create a shape.

The paper should be folded in half along the horizontal crease. The popper should look like a triangle with the tip cut off.

Step 12: Put the left and right corners together.

The longer flat edge should be facing towards you.Take the bottom two corners on the left and right side. The edges should be lined up with the vertical crease. Two triangular flaps should meet in the center and make a diamond.

Step 13: You need to finish your popper.

The paper should be folded in half on the horizontal crease. The popper should be in the shape of a triangle with the two flaps on the outside.

Step 14: You can pop your paper popper.

The popper needs to be held between your thumb and index finger. To create a popping sound, raise your arm above your head and snap it down.If your paper is stiff, you may need to pull out the inner folds to get it to pop.Make the noise again by Tucking back in the flap.

Step 15: A sheet of printer paper can be used.

The longer sides of the paper need to be on the top and bottom. If you want to use larger or smaller paper, you can use a standard piece of A4 printer paper.Make sure you use rectangular paper. It's possible that regular notebook paper isn't as loud as printer paper.

Step 16: The paper should be folded in half on a horizontal crease.

Bring the bottom edge of your paper to the top edge.To create a crease, run your finger along the folded edge.

Step 17: The paper should be folded in half again.

This time, fold your paper in half widthwise.Bring the right edge of your paper over to the left edge.Keep your folds in place by running your finger along the crease.

Step 18: Pinch the two inner flaps on the paper with one hand.

There are four flaps of paper on the bottom. The two inner flaps need to be pinched. The top of your paper has two edges. There are two outer flaps and two inner flaps on the paper.

Step 19: You should pinch the two outer flaps with your other hand.

Pull the inner flaps upward while keeping the outer flaps in place with your other hand.Pushing the inner flaps upward created two loops, or cone shapes. The outer flaps should be pinched toward the middle of the paper to keep the inner flaps in place. When you throw down your popper, the cones you've created will flap out as you make the noise, so make sure you don't pinching any parts of the inner flaps.

Step 20: You can pop your popper.

If you were cracking a whip or bouncing a ball on the ground, raise your arm and throw your popper down.Bring your arm down to help the inner flaps pop out.
