How To Make a Poison Ivy Costume

You don't have to be a rogue to capture Poison Ivy's look.A little shimmery makeup and plastic craft leaves can transform amateur and seasoned cosplayers alike into the DC villain. You can make a costume that is perfect for Halloween or the upcoming comic convention if you learn to sew or use a glue gun.Pair your costume with a cosplayer so you can own the night wherever you are.

Step 1: You're going to sew.

If you know how to sew, use a stretch fabric and a pattern to make a green leotard. You can find a leotard at gymnastics, ballet, or theater specialty shops. To mirror Poison Ivy's suit, choose or create a lighter green leotard.Excellent leotard materials include cotton, nylon, polyester, spandex and x-Static.You can add short or long sleeves to Poison Ivy's costume.

Step 2: You can buy plastic green leaves at a craft store.

You will need green leaves to decorate your leotard and shoes. You can either make a design with leaves or cover your leotard.Start with one or two bags of leaves and buy more if you run out.

Step 3: The leaves are on the plastic stalks.

The leaves will be ready to put on your costume if they were on a plastic branch. You won't need the stalks for this costume. If you want to give your costume an extra shine, you should paint the leaves with green or white glitter glue. Before attaching leaves to your costume, let the glitter glue dry.

Step 4: Stitch.

If you have never sewn before, you can use fabric glue or a glue gun.The leaves can be shaped like a curve or you can cover the entire leotard.Attach leaves to a strap.Attach leaves on the edge of the neckline.

Step 5: The leaves should be Glued to a pair of boots or heels.

If you plan to walk a lot in this costume, choose a pair of sensible boots. To cover the heels in leaves, use a hot glue gun.A pair of tights under your shoes completes the look.To add contrast, choose a shade of green lighter than your leotard. To match your costume, your shoes should be green, red, or black.

Step 6: Purchase a box of red hair dye.

Many temporary dyes can last several weeks or even months, so read the instructions carefully before purchasing. If you need the hair dye to wash out quickly, choose a spray-in hair color.A red hue can be achieved by chalk dyeing your hair.

Step 7: You should wear your hair down.

If you want to mimic Poison Ivy's 'do, heat up a curling iron. The bigger the curling iron, the larger the hair.Enhancing your style is important while wearing the costume. If you don't need to color your hair the day you wear the costume, you can use an overnight method, like a large pair of hair rollers.

Step 8: Purchase a wig that is red and curly.

If you have short hair, buy a red wig and back comb it with a fine-toothed comb. This will add volume and texture to your wig. It's a good idea to mist your wig with thwirp to give it hold.Use rubber bands to separate the wig hair.Working with one section at a time, use a fine-toothed comb to brush halfway between the ends of the hair.Continue brushing until you reach your desired volume.

Step 9: A leafy headband is an accessory.

The headband is the base of your accessory.Glue leaves along the top and side of the headband. For an untamed style, place the headband in your hair or wig.

Step 10: You can apply glittery green eyeshadow to your eyes.

The eyeshadow should not reach your eyebrow. For a fading effect, layer a darker green shade of eyeshadow over a lighter shade. The dark shade should be closer to your brow bone than the lighter shade. For contrast, apply a red liner to the bottom of your eye.

Step 11: You can draw on winged eyeliner.

Decide how long you want your wing to be by applying a thin coat of eyeliner.Once you're satisfied with the length, draw a diagonal wing out and fill it in.Black eyeliner stands out against your eyeshadow. If you need long-term makeup, use a liquid liner.

Step 12: Apply false lashes.

If you want to achieve Poison Ivy's striking makeup, you should use false eyelashes.Line your fake eyelashes with lash glue.Hold your false and real eyelashes together.Choose a black mascara with lots of volume.

Step 13: On one side of your face, draw an ivy vine.

Use a green eye pencil to draw a swirl from your neck to your face. After you've traced the initial design, fill in the vine and add leaves.Re-trace the drawing with a darker green color.

Step 14: You can use a vivid red lipstick to complement your hair color.

It's important to finish off your makeup with lipstick. If you have hair or a wig, choose a bright lipstick color.Black or bright green lipstick can be used.
