How to make caramelized onions in the microwave?

Make a small vertical slice from the skin of the onion.The onion's first layer should be removed.

The onion slices should be placed on the bottom of a baking dish that is large enough to hold all of them.

In a heatproof measuring cup, melt 1/2 cup unsalted butter in a small saucepan or in the microwave and pour it over the onions.The butter should be put in the onion slices.

Use a fork to poke two holes in the center of the plastic wrap to cover the baking dish.

Carefully uncover the baking dish after removing the onions from the microwave.Return the onions to the microwave.For an additional five minutes, cook the onions uncovered.
