How To Make Chocolate Dipped Spoons

Chocolate dipped spoons are a great gift for the dessert lovers in your life. When you use the spoon to stir a hot drink such as coffee or hot cocoa, the chocolate melts and adds a sweet mocha-like flavor.Whether you make them for yourself or for the chocolate lovers on your holiday gift list, chocolate dipped spoons are perfect for mixing with drinks or enjoying on their own during the holiday season.

Step 1: Place the chocolate chips in the microwave bowl.

Milk chocolate and white chocolate chips will be used for decorations later on, so don't mix in the other types of chocolate yet. It's important to use a bowl large enough to hold all of your chocolate chips. If you see a symbol shaped like a microwave with three wavy lines on the bottom of tupperware and glass containers, it's probably safe to use in the microwave.

Step 2: The chocolate chips should be Microwaved for 2 to 3 minutes.

Keep an eye on the chocolate as it is melting in the microwave. To prevent the chocolate from burning or bubbling, pull out the bowl every 30 seconds. The liquid chocolate should be smooth with a wooden spoon after every chocolate chip has melted. If you don't have a microwave, you can place the bowl on top of a saucepan full of water to heat up the chocolate. This works the same way fondue does.To prevent steam from coming out of the edges, be sure to cover the saucepan with the bowl.

Step 3: The chocolate mix should be smooth and even.

While you look for chocolate, gently stir the mix with a wooden spoon. If the chocolate is hot, the chunks should melt in a few seconds, but if it's large, you may need to microwave it for another 30 seconds.Do not add water or butter to the mix as this will separate the chocolate and ruin its consistency.

Step 4: The front bowl should be covered by the chocolate.

It's a good idea to avoid getting chocolate too far up the handle of the spoon or the person using it, and it can be more difficult to handle during the cooling process. You can get a thick coating of chocolate only on the head of the spoon by dipping it straight down into the melty goodness. If you accidentally dip one too far, use a wet paper towel to wipe the chocolate off the handle.Don't wipe the bowl of the spoon.

Step 5: Place the spoons face-down on the wax paper.

Use a cookie sheet large enough to hold every spoon and place them face-down on the edge of the bowl to balance them. The amount of chocolate touching the wax paper should be minimized by raising the curve of the spoon above the paper.

Step 6: The chocolate should be refrigerated until it is completely hardened.

Depending on how hot the chocolate was when the spoons were dipped, it can take anywhere from 5 to 15 minutes. If you want to add any topping to the spoons, make sure you do it before putting them in the fridge or chocolate on them.

Step 7: Wrap each spoon after you remove the tray from the fridge.

The spoon should be wrapped in plastic wrap or paper with the handle poking out so it looks like a lollipop. If you want to keep the chocolate from touching the plastic wrap or paper, try to seal the opening on the handle with a zip tie or ribbon.Don't wrap the plastic wrap tightly, instead try to allow a pocket of air in between the spoon and the wrap to cushion it against hard surfaces.

Step 8: The chocolate spoons should be kept in a cool place.

To prevent the chocolate from melting, be sure to keep the spoons in a cool place. The chocolate can be kept in the freezer, but it can crack and dry out if left for too long. The chocolate should last up to a year if sealed. You can keep the spoons in a sealed container if you want to store them in the freezer.

Step 9: The chocolate should be spread over the spoons with a plastic bag.

In two separate microwave-safe bowls melt the white chocolate chips in the microwave for about 2 to 3 minutes each in 30 second bursts, and stir the mix regularly. The melted chips should be put into the plastic bags.

Step 10: Attach a small hole to one corner of the bag.

Cut a small hole in the opposite corner of the plastic bag to let the melted chocolate fall to one side.If you cut the corner with lots of chocolate, you may lose some of the melted chocolate.

Step 11: White chocolate and milk chocolate can be spread on 12 spoons.

To make a thin strand of white and milk chocolate onto different spoons, squeeze the bag towards the cut-out hole.A zig-zag or crosshatch pattern on each spoon is more visually appealing than a single thick drop in the center. The topping layer could separate from the spoon if you don't drizzle the white and milk chocolate first.

Step 12: Sprinkle some sugar, sprinkles, or candy on the spoon.

The little decorative additions can add a visual appeal to your spoons. Before you cool them, you should sprinkle them on each spoon.Coarse sugar is perfect for coffee, sprinkles and toffee bits are great for hot cocoa, and candy cane pieces mix perfectly with any hot wintery drink. To make your spoons more aesthetically diverse, decorate 6 of them with each topping.

Step 13: For the perfect holiday gift, pair your spoons with drink mixes and mugs.

If you give your spoons as a gift, make sure to include a drink mix with them.If you include a large mug with the spoons, you can place the drink mix in the mug itself as a self-contained gift.Wrap the whole gift with a red or green ribbon and it will be the perfect gift for the coffee or hot cocoa lover in your life.
