How To Move Windows to Another Drive

If you just upgraded to a new hard drive, you might want to migrate your current system to the new one, but Windows doesn't make it easy.AOMEI Backupper can be used to backup and clone your system after you move Windows to a new hard drive.

Step 1: You can download the file in a web browser.

There is a download page for AOMEI Backupper.You can backup and clone your system using this app.

Step 2: Click on the location you want to download.

There are two blue buttons on the right-hand side of the page.

Step 3: Click on the option to download 1 or 2.

When you click on it, both options are below the "Local Download" option.The AOMEI install file will be downloaded immediately.

Step 4: You can run the install file.

Downloads can be found in your "Downloads" folder.You can run downloaded files from within a web browser.To install AOMEI Backupper, double-click "BackupperFull.exe".

Step 5: Click to install.

When you launch the AOMEI Backupper Install File, there is a large blue button.The AOMEI Backupper will be installed.

Step 6: AOMEI backupper can be opened.

The app has a blue icon with an orange and green circle on the front.If something goes wrong, it's a good idea to back up your drive.

Step 7: Click to backup.

There's a sidebar to the left of the AOMEI Backupper app.

Step 8: Click on the disk you want to back up.

You can use this to recover your system.

Step 9: Click Step 1

Select the disk you want to backup.

Step 10: Click the disk you want to backup and then add it.

Click the disk you want to back up.The disks will be highlighted.At the bottom of the app window, you can click "add".

Step 11: Choose a destination for the image file.

The image file should be saved to C:.Select a destination for the backup image if you wish to change it.

Step 12: You can start a backup.

Click the orange button in the lower-right corner of the AOMEI Backupper window to start backup.This system image can be used to restore your system if something goes wrong during the cloning process.You can learn how to recover your disk using a system image.

Step 13: It's time to power off your computer.

Make sure your computer is unplugged and turned off before you install a new disk drive or any other hardware.

Step 14: The hard drive needs to be installed.

You need a free slot on your computer to install a new hard drive.Attach the power and data cables to the hard drive.To learn how to install a hard drive, read 2 simple ways.If you don't have a free slot on your hard drive, you'll need to purchase a new one to connect it to your system.

Step 15: Turn on your computer.

The power button should be pressed after the new hard drive is installed.

Step 16: The AOMEI backupper should be opened.

There is a blue icon with a green and orange circle.It can be launched from the Windows Start menu.

Step 17: You can click Clone.

There is a sidebar to the left.

Step 18: Click Disk Clone.

It is the first option in the "Disk Clone" menu.

Step 19: Click next if you want to clone the disk.

There is a list of hard drives.Click the button that says "Next" if you want to clone that one.There is an orange button in the lower-right corner of the app.

Step 20: Click Next if you want to select the new hard drive.

AOMEI Backupper should recognize the new hard drive if it is installed correctly.Click "Next" in the lower-right corner if you want to select it.If there is any data on the new hard drive, it will be erased.

Step 21: Partitions can be edited on the destination disk.

There are a few options for the new drive.Partition to the entire disk is recommended.If you are transferring to a new device, you should check the align partition.This will improve the performance.

Step 22: Click Start Clone.

The contents of your old hard drive will be transferred to the new drive.
