How To Play Chopsticks on a Keyboard or Piano

Chopsticks is easy to learn and play.Many of us start out with this easy tune as a way to get used to the piano keys.You can play with a partner once you get the hang of it.

Step 1: You can use a piano or keyboard.

You need the instrument to learn how to play it.If you want to practice, you can draw out the piano keys on a piece of paper.

Step 2: The keyboard has stickers with notes written on them.

It is possible to put little circular stickers on each key if you are having trouble remembering what note it is.You can write a note on the sticker.Make sure you don't damage the keyboard.Don't write on the keyboard.The notes that you are going to play for this song should have stickers on them.

Step 3: Print out the sheet music.

There are many places where you can find sheet music for chopsticks.You should be able to refer to the sheet music as you play.You can get rid of sheet music if you memorize it.This will help you find something to refer to.You can just write down the notes and play them on a piece of paper if you can't read music.

Step 4: To learn the song, you have to commit to it.

You won't be able to play it perfectly immediately, so go into it with your knowledge.It will be fun but you will have to work on it.Don't get upset!This is a part of learning.

Step 5: You can learn the basic notes.

You can use the illustration to learn the basic notes on the keyboard.You can use any internet research that you like.You should start with the notes on the sheet music for chopsticks.If you get a few basic ones down, you can learn to play a song with them.

Step 6: Put your hands together.

You want to turn your hands over your keys.Make sure your fingers are not too far away from the piano.The chopping motion in someways will be mimicked by the movements of your hands.That is why it is called chopsticks.Imagine if you were about to karate chop the piano keys.

Step 7: Put your fingers on the keys.

Your pinkie goes on the F and G keys.If you need to consult a note sheet, use the stickers on your keys.

Step 8: You need to get your timing.

This could be the hardest part.Try to think of a clock.For each tick and tock, count to six: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, and repeat that to yourself.You switch to thetick when you get to three.

Step 9: The first measure should be played.

Play the first two notes six times if you have that beat in your head.If you want to see what the music looks like, refer to the image.If you want to practice this measure, go ahead.You don't need to rush.You should try to master this first.

Step 10: Prepare for the second measure.

Before you move on, make sure you have mastered the first measure.The next white key is over to the left.You can see the piano notes in the accompanying picture.br>.

Step 11: You can play the E and G notes.

You can play the E and G notes 6 times using the same rhythm.It's important to keep that tic tock rhythm in your head.If you can move from the first measure to the second easily, you should be able to.

Step 12: You can move your fingers to the D and B notes.

As shown in the accompanying picture, put your left and right fingers on the D and B keys.Since you need to move both fingers at the same time, this is the next part of the song.Take your time and practice.

Step 13: You can play the D and B notes.

Play the notes six times.It won't sound right if you stick to the tic-tock rhythm as you play.

Step 14: You can move your fingers one way or the other.

They both go on the same note.Refer to where the notes on the piano are if you are lost.You can reorient yourself by doing this.

Step 15: Only play the C notes four times.

You have 2 left in your rhythm after you play those four notes.You have to count to six.Move each finger one note at a time towards the starting point for the last two notes.The left and right fingers play D, E, B, and A.A visual will be provided by the accompanying picture.br>.

Step 16: Start at the top.

Try to repeat those four measures.If you need to split it into parts, take it slowly.As long as you don't rush, you'll get comfortable with it.

Step 17: Practice and practice.

As you get more comfortable, you can try some of the variations.Have a good time.
