How To Play Paddleball

Similar to racquetball, paddleball is a fun indoor paddle game. The goal of the game is to hit a ball with your paddle and it will rebound off a wall and back onto the court. It is easy to play paddleball once you are comfortable with the paddle.

Step 1: You can play with 2 or 4 people.

You cannot play with more than 2 players in paddleball. If you play doubles, divide into 2 teams. If not, play against 1 other player.

Step 2: There is a paddleball court to play on.

A paddleball court is inside a room that is 40 feet by 20 feet. The wall that the ball gets hit at should be 20 feet tall and 6 feet wide. There should be clearly marked lines on it.There should be a short line between the front and back walls, followed by a service line and finally a receiving line.

Step 3: If you flip a coin, you can see who goes first.

Every player needs a wooden paddle. The player or team that wins the coin toss gets to decide if they want to go first or second.Give the player or team that is going first the ball so they can serve.A heavy rubber ball can be used for paddleball. The ball should only bounce 3.5 feet in the air after being dropped from 6 feet.

Step 4: When it's your turn to serve, stand in the service zone.

The service zone is between the service line and the short line. You need to be completely within this zone when serving. If you are playing doubles, have your teammate stand against one of the side walls inside the service zone.

Step 5: If you want to serve it, bounce the ball once and hit it with your paddle.

The ball can't go above your head if you bounce it within the service zone.If the ball bounces more than once in the service zone, you lose serve. When you hit the ball with your paddle, you want to hit it at the front wall so that it doesn't touch the floor. You serve-out if it doesn't rebound over the short line without touching the floor. The serve is still good if the ball hits one of the side walls and makes it over the short line without hitting the floor.

Step 6: If you serve out, pass the serve to the other player.

Before the ball is passed to the other player or team, you only get one chance at a good serve.Wait for the other player or team to serve if you serve out.The ball bouncing twice in the service zone and failing to rebound the ball over the short line are two ways you can serve-out.The ball will rebound off the front wall and hit the floor if it hits the back wall. After the ball hits the side walls, it will rebound off the front wall and hit the floor.

Step 7: When it's not your serve, stand behind the receiving line.

You must stay behind the receiving line until the ball crosses the short line if you want to receive it.

Step 8: Hit the ball if it goes over the short line.

If the server's serve is good and the ball bounces over the short line, you need to hit it back to the front wall. You lose the round if the ball bounces more than once.If you hit the ball off the front wall and across the short line, the server will receive it.

Step 9: If the other player or team hits the ball, prepare to receive it again.

If they bounce the ball off the front wall and over the short line, you will be the receiver again.A player or team does not receive the ball. The serve goes to the team that didn't serve that round if a player or team fails to receive the ball.

Step 10: When you or your team serve, add a point to your score.

Only the player or team that served can win a point. The other player is trying to stop the server from winning a point. No one would get a point if the server failed to receive the ball when you hit it to them. You would have a chance to score a point when you serve.

Step 11: The serving player or team that wins the round will get 1 point.

You have to win 1 point at a time. When a team or player wins a round, they add 1 point to their total score.

Step 12: Play until your opponent wins 21 points.

The person with the most points wins the game. Both teams start at 0 points again if you want to play another game.
