How To Play Spikeball

If you have a group of 4 friends, a Spikeball net and ball, and a lot of space, you can setup Spike ball. This fun, athletic game will have you running all over your yard to set, spike, and return the ball to the net.You should know the rules of Spikeball before you start playing.

Step 1: The goal is to get as many points as possible.

The Spikeball net in the middle is where you and your teammate will stand. The other team has to bounce the ball back after one team serves it onto the net.The other team gets a point if your team can't get the ball back onto the net within 3 moves. The goal is not to get the ball over the net but to hit it.

Step 2: You and a partner play Spikeball.

You can set up your stuff in a gym or a large field if you get 2 other people to play with you.If you have a large group of friends, switch out your teammates after each game to give everyone a chance to play.

Step 3: Pull out your equipment if you empty the Spikeball bag.

To make a circle, insert the black rim segments into the yellow legs. The mesh net needs to be stretched over the rim until it is completely taut. The Spikeball has a small net on 4 legs that is off the ground. You will also have a ball.In tournaments, the ball needs to be inflated to exactly 12 in (30 cm) in circumference, but it doesn't matter if you're just playing casually.

Step 4: Everyone should be 6 ft away from the net.

Group around the net in a loose circle with Team A on one side and Team B on the other side. You will no longer have to stay on your designated sides once the game starts. If you use your best judgement, you don't have to measure exactly 6 ft.

Step 5: The team that doesn't serve the ball gets to pick a receiver.

One person on the team is allowed to stand as close to the net as they want.If you are the receiver, you have to block the serve from the other team. You can get closer than your teammate if you stay on your side of the net.

Step 6: Pick one person to serve on the team.

When you serve, throw the ball into the air and hit it on the net.The goal is to get the ball away from the other team so they can't return it to the net.You get one more try if the serve fails and the ball bounces straight back at the server. The player on your team that serves the ball should be alternated.

Step 7: Move the net around in a circle.

If you want to hit the ball, you can move around in a circle and stay close to the net.The serving team can spike the ball anywhere they want after the game starts. If you are on the receiving team, try to mirror the serving players position. You will be ready when they spike the ball onto the net.

Step 8: Try to get the ball back onto the net if your team did not serve.

You can use any part of your body to spike the ball. The other team scores a point if you don't get the ball back onto the net in 3 moves. The player can only touch the ball once.Person 1 can spike the ball if Person 2 rushes in to set it.You can only touch the ball with 1 of your body parts at a time. You can not catch, lift, or throw the ball.

Step 9: It is harder for the other team to rush in.

The receiving team should hit the ball toward the net and wait for it to get low. They have to run and get it if they hit the ball across the net.If you are playing Spikeball for the first time, you don't have to worry about strategy. You can think about different ways of hitting and bumping the ball as you get better.

Step 10: The blocking of other players is not allowed.

If the other team is receiving the ball, be cautious and try to move out of their way.You can replay the game if you bumped into another player. The number one goal here is safety.

Step 11: The other team gets a point if it drops the ball.

If the other team hits the ball on the rim of the net, your team will get a point. It is up to the players to score their own games, so keep an eye on the other team. When you score in a tournament, a ref will tell you.You can change your teams starting positions every 5 points if it is sunny or windy.Everyone should get a fair chance.

Step 12: You can play to 11 or 15 points in most games.

You have to win the game by 2 points, but you can decide if you want to follow that rule with the other players.Don't be intimidated by the high numbers because points rack up quickly.Even if they don't have the ball, either team can score a point.
