Step 1: The grapefruit needs to be cut at its center.

Take a large, sharp knife and slice the grapefruit in half.If you don't know where the top and bottom of the grapefruit are, you can find the two dots at the opposite ends. The top and bottom of the fruit are shown. The dots are similar to the poles of the earth. The equator line would be cut through the center of the grapefruit if you turned it on its side.

Step 2: The grapefruit has a rim.

The skin and flesh of the grapefruit meet along the line.To cut along this circle, use a small knife. You don't want to cut away any of the fruit by keeping as close to the skin as possible.

Step 3: Cut around the wedges.

Take the knife and cut around the grapefruit. The fruit is being freed from the skin of the grapefruit.

Step 4: If you want, you can cut out the membranes.

If you want, you can stop here. Some people like to use a knife or scissors to cut the fruit of the grapefruit. This is a lot of work, and you will probably lose a bit of the fruit as you cut it out. Many like to do this because by the end you will be able to easily eat the inside of the grapefruit and won't have to scoop out each section.

Step 5: If you want, you can add sugar to it.

People sprinkle sugar on the fruit to make it taste better. If you want, sprinkle some sugar over the fruit. The soft texture of the fruit is counterbalanced by the sugar's smooth texture.

Step 6: The halves of the fruit should be placed in a bowl.

The grapefruits fit perfectly into the bowls. The bowl should be the same size as the grapefruit half. The halves of the grapefruit should be spooned. The spoon can be used to scoop up the fruit of the grapefruit. You should be able to remove the fruit from the grapefruit since you cut around it.

Step 7: Cut off the skin.

Just as you would peel an orange, remove the outer skin of a grapefruit. If you're having trouble making the first peel, it's a good idea to take the skin out with a knife.

Step 8: The excess skin should be removed.

There is a layer of skin around the outside of the grapefruit after you peel it.You can peel off this layer with your fingernails. If you prefer, you can use a knife. You won't be able to remove it all at once. You can peel it off with little strips or a knife.

Step 9: The grapefruit should be split into sections.

Take the fruit and divide it into sections. There should be at least twelve sections to each grapefruit. You can cut away the membranes if you want. Some people prefer to cut the fruit off.It is not necessary.

Step 10: The sections should be arranged on a plate.

Put the sections of grapefruit on a plate.Take a slice and enjoy the fruit. One of the easiest ways to prepare a fruit is with this method. Some people prefer to prepare grapefruit in a way that removes the outer layer of the fruit.

Step 11: The top should be cut to the bottom.

Instead of cutting the center of the fruit, cut the top to the bottom at each pole. You should get two equal sized grapefruit halves from this.

Step 12: Remove the skin from the outside.

The grapefruits should be laid on a cutting board.Remove the skin with a sharp knife. You can peel the skin with your fingernails, but you may want to use a knife to get rid of the white layer.

Step 13: The fruit needs to be cut away.

Take the knife and cut away at the fruit.Cut as closely as you can, so you don't leave any fruit behind. When you are done, the fruit should be separated into wedges.

Step 14: The fruit can be placed on a plate or bowl.

As you move the wedges to a plate, be careful as the fruit is fragile when separated from the skin.If you want, sprinkle with sugar.Either spear with a toothpick or use your fingers to eat.

Step 15: The grapefruit should be cut at the center.

The grapefruit can be cut with a large knife. This will give you the same amount of fruit.

Step 16: Cut the fruit into slices.

If you want the "pole" of the grapefruit to be horizontal, stand one half up on the cutting board.Cut 14 inch slices of grapefruit with a sharp knife. You can do this for both halves of the fruit.Don't let your fingers get in the way of the knife.

Step 17: The slices need to be cut into wedges.

Take the sharp knife and slice the grapefruits into smaller slices. If you want smaller wedges, cut the half-moon shaped slices in half to create triangular slices.

Step 18: Put the slices on the glass rims with a small slit.

Take the knife and cut a small slit into the fruit. If you put the wedges on the rim of the glasses or cups, the slit will help the grapefruit stay put.If you don't prepare any beverages, you can put a cut of grapefruit on a plate to eat.

Step 19: The grapefruit needs to be cut in half.

The grapefruit is at its center. This will give you the same amount of grapefruit halves.

Step 20: The grapefruit halves can be juiced using a manual juicer.

Put the manual juicer on top of the glass. The point of the juicer has a pointed end.You should be able to see the juice being released. As you gently press the grapefruit against the juicer, keep turning it around. You might need to use more than one grapefruit to get the juice you want.

Step 21: The juice from the grapefruit should be strained.

Take a strainer and pour the juice from the two halves of the grapefruit into a glass. The seeds should be removed from the juice. You can drink the juice from the glass.

Step 22: Prepare the food.

The Broiler should be set to its highest heat. The grapefruit should be cut in half. The fruit should be cut around the rim and along the segments.Remove some of the skin from the rounded bottom part of each grapefruit half so it won't tilt.

Step 23: Sprinkle the fruit with sugar.

The maraschino cherry juice can be poured into the grapefruit halves while the broiler is still preheating.Sprinkle as much brown sugar as you want on each grapefruit half.If you want a richer flavor, you can add more butter.

Step 24: Cook in the boiler for a while.

Place the grapefruit halves in a pan and cook.If you want a softer and more golden-brown grapefruit, cook it for 10 minutes.

Step 25: Remove the grapefruit from the oven.

Take the fruit out of the oven.If you want a cherry, top it with a maraschino cherry. You can eat with a spoon.
