How To Protect a Google Drive Folder on PC or Mac

You can learn how to change the share settings on your PC or Mac.It is possible to change the share settings so that only specific users can see the folder.It is possible to restrict who can make changes to a folder.LockMagic is an extension that you can use to protect your files.

Step 1: You can go to drive.google.com in a web browser.

You can use any browser on your computer.You have to go to the web page to get to it.Click in the upper-right corner and sign in with your email address and password if you aren't automatically signed in.

Step 2: Click on a folder in your drive.

A pop-up menu is displayed next to the folder.

Step 3: Click to share.

When you click on a folder, it's the second option at the top of the pop-up menu.

Step 4: Click advanced.

There is a pop up window at the bottom right corner.

Step 5: Next to your current privacy setting, click Change.

Under the heading, you'll find this.

Step 6: Only a limited number of people can access it.

Link sharing is turned off by this.Only you can decide who can see the folder.

Step 7: Click it to save.

Step 8: The "People" bar can be used to type user's emails.

In the bar labeled "People", type the email address or usernames associated with the user's account in order to allow them to view the folder.The Share menu has it near the bottom.

Step 9: Click.

The icon looks like a pencil next to the bar.There is a drop-down menu that allows you to decide what users can do with the folder.

Step 10: You can only see Can view.

When you click on the icon that resembles a pencil, it's the second option in the drop-down menu.Users who have access to the folder can't make changes to it.

Step 11: Click on Done.

The Share menu has a blue button in it.The changes you made to the folder are saved here.

Step 12: Go to drive.google.com in a web browser

On PC or Mac, you can use any web browser of your choice.You have to go to the web page to get to it.Click in the upper-right corner and sign in with your email address and password if you aren't automatically signed in.

Step 13: Click on a folder in your drive.

There is a pop-up menu next to the folder.

Step 14: Click it to open it.

When you click a folder, it's the first option at the top of the pop-up menu.

Step 15: Click to connect more apps.

It is the last option in the menu.The pop-up allows you to browse more apps that work with Drive.

Step 16: You can type Lockmagic in the search bar.

There is a bar in the upper right corner.There are apps that match your search results.

Step 17: Click to connect to LockMagic.

There is a blue button to the right of the app.There are blue, green, and orange figures on the LockMagic icon.LockMagic is added to your connected apps.

Step 18: Click ok.

skip to the next step if you don't see a blue button asking you to click "Ok".

Step 19: Click x.

You can close the "Connect apps to Drive" pop-up and return to your drive.

Step 20: Click on a folder in your Drive again.

There is a pop-up menu next to the folder.

Step 21: Click it to open it.

When you click a folder, it's the first option at the top of the pop-up menu.

Step 22: Click LockMagic.

It is in the list of connected apps.There is an orange icon with a lock in the middle.The LockMagic page opens.

Step 23: Click authorize.

The button is at the top of the screen.

Step 24: Click on the account you want to use.

Click on the account you want to use to protect the Drive folder.This is a sign that you are going to use LockMagic to access Google Drive.If you don't see the account you want to sign in with, click below.You will need the email address and password for the account you want to sign in with.The contents of your drive can be seen on the LockMagic website if you click the refresh button.

Step 25: Click here to go to my drive.

It's in the middle of LockMagic.You can see the entire contents of your drive.

Step 26: Next to a folder is where you should click.

The files are to the right of the checkboxes.Click the button next to the folder you want to protect.

Step 27: You can click Encrypt.

The left side has a list of files and folders.Permissions are granted to users and files are protected with a pop-up.

Step 28: You can type the names of the users you want access to.

If there are users that you would like to have access to, you can type their email address in the bar at the top.To view or edit the files, these users will need to sign up for an account with LockMagic.

Step 29: Permissions for users are optional.

If you want the user to only view the contents of the folder, you can use the drop-down menu next to their email address.

Step 30: You can click on Encrypt and Upload.

It is in the lower right corner of the screen.This creates a duplicate of all the files.Depending on how many files are in the folder, this may take a few minutes.Only users who sign up for a LockMagic account can access the files.To allow a new user to access a file, click to the right of the file and then click.The person's email address can be typed in the bar.Clicking to the right of the file will block authorized users from accessing it.Click if you want to.The person's name can be typed on the bar.Click the box next to the file you want to remove and then click at the top of the screen.
