How To Remove an Airlock from Your Hot Water System

Have you ever switched off and drained your hot water system to fix a leak, only to find there was no water?

Step 1: Make sure you have hot water.

Step 2: An airlock is when air in the pipes isn't being moved by the hot water and it blocks the pipe.

Step 3: Take a length of garden hose and some duct tape.

Step 4: Use the duct tape and hose to connect the cold water tap.

Step 5: You can open the hot water tap.

Step 6: The cold water tap needs to be opened for a few seconds.

Step 7: Make sure your airlock is fixed.

Step 8: The hot water should be checked at a different tap.

Step 9: The steps are repeated two or three times.

Step 10: Remove your hose if the hot water is not working.

Step 11: If not, call a plumbing professional.
