How To Remove an Oven Door

It's much easier to figure out how to remove an oven door. The removal process is the same no matter what oven you have. All you have to do is remove the hinges from the oven frame. You can open some doors by hand. You can slide the hinges back into place once you put the door back on.

Step 1: The door to the oven should be open.

The oven door should be brought all the way down. The metal hinges connecting the door to the rest of the oven are exposed when you open it.The hinges are locked when you reach the latches.

Step 2: The hinges on the door's bottom end need to be unlocked.

The sides of the door have something on them. The hinges look like small metal arms on the inner part of the door. There is a small metal piece on each hinge.Move each hinge by hand. The hinges may vary from oven to oven.If the door's latches are in a down position when you open it, you need to flip them up to get it open.If the latch is stuck, you may be able to open it with a screwdriver.

Step 3: The door should be closed when it is 1/3 of the way open.

Put your hands on either side of the door.Lift the door in a minute with this.Lift the door slowly and it will partially open. Some models may require you to open the door a little more. When the door is up to 13 of the way open, you can remove it.

Step 4: Pull the door towards you.

Put your hands on the door's sides.Lift both sides of the door at the same time. You can move the door away from the oven by pulling it towards you.You may need to wiggle the door a little to get it off the hinges.

Step 5: The door should be on a flat surface.

If the door feels heavy, put it down and rest.If your door has glass, place it with the handle down in a clean spot. You don't want to see broken glass on the floor. You can cover the door with a blanket.

Step 6: The door is about 14 of the way open.

Bring the door down by grasping the handle. You will have to open the door by about 10 cm.If the door doesn't stop in this position, keep your grip on it.When partially opened, some doors may stay still. For this type of door, open it until it can stay open on its own, which will take about 14 of the way down.

Step 7: The door should be grasped evenly by the sides.

Your hands should be on the door's sides. If your door can slam shut on you, keep your grip on the handle until your hands are in position.Hold the door's sides to keep it from closing.Place your hands at the same height on the door's side. The hinges will come loose at the same time if you lift the door smoothly.

Step 8: You can remove the door from the oven.

Lift the door back from the oven.Keep a firm grasp on the door as the hinges will slide free from the oven frame. The hinges should clear the oven's frame if you pull the door straight back at an angle.

Step 9: Place the door in a safe location.

The handle should be placed on the flat surface.Try to find a location where the door won't be damaged or knocked over.If you want to lay a blanket down first, you may wish to clean off the spot.

Step 10: The door should be reached by the sides.

The door is being replaced except in reverse.Lift the door to begin.Put your hands down from the top of the door. This will allow you to move the hinges onto the frame.Make sure you have a firm grip on the door. You will need to fit both sides of the oven at the same time.

Step 11: The door should be aligned with the hinge slots.

You need to slide the door at an angle to fit it.The door was at the same angle when you removed it.Hold the door vertically, about 10 cm away from the oven, most of the time. The slots on the oven should be near the hinges at the bottom of the door. The hinge system may be a little different because of the ovens. To align the door with the hinge slots, you may want to lower it.

Step 12: The hinges should be put into the oven's hinge slots.

Push the metal hinges to get into the slots. You may end up with a crooked door if the hinge arms don't go in evenly. The slots should be completely covered by the hinges. If the door is not even, slide it back out of the slots. It is the only way to make sure you get a good fit.

Step 13: Try to open the door by pushing it down.

Push down on the door.It is important that the door stays on the hinges.Pull the door open. The door will swing open if it's placed correctly. The door isn't positioned correctly if it opens partially. You can fix it by removing the door and sliding it back into the slots.

Step 14: If your door has the hinges, lock them.

The door's hinges have tiny latches on them.Pull the hinges by hand until they rest against the door's frame. You should be able to open the door.If you have an oven, the latches may need to be pushed down. The oven door should be protected by these latches.
