How To Request a Ride on Uber

You can learn how to request a ride for dispatch with an additional few steps.

Step 1: Go to the app and sign in.

The app is black and has a word on it.

Step 2: Go to the "Where To?"

There is a field. This will open a box that will allow you to request a ride.

Step 3: Go to a destination.

You can type in an address or a name of a business, but once it displays at the bottom of the screen, tap the listing that best matches the location based on the locations' address and name. You can go to this location if you have set your Home or Work location. If you are at one of these locations, your Saved location will not be shown to you.If your pickup location is different from what the app says you are at, you can either back out of the box and type in the location you want, or hold off until later. You can request a ride that has more than one stop using the directions.

Step 4: If necessary, schedule your pickup for later.

If you follow the directions, you can schedule an ride for later. In some cities, scheduled pickup isn't available.

Step 5: If you don't want to do that, you can select an alternative service.

If you feel you need more, scroll the list and see two choices for economy and premium rides. Not all services are covered by every region, and your options vary by location. The most common option for most riders. The option will fit up to four riders. For groups of up to six, there is a larger, more expensive ride-sharing service. Most of the time, these will be minivans and similar, but there are a few out there that can fit that amount.A more expensive option.A high-end service. For parties of up to seven, there is a higher-end version of the app. There are two separate services for disabled riders: Wheelchair-accessible vehicles and specially-trained staff to help elderly or mobility-impaired riders. For no more than 2 riders in your party, and with special restrictions for the pickup and dropoff location. You can't schedule an event in advance.

Step 6: You can confirm your payment option.

Most credit cards (Visa, Mastercard and Discover), along with their own gift certificate-like account, called "Uber Cash", are included in the range of payment options. If you want to build up additional ride credits using special promotions, benefits and other similar programs, they use Apple Pay.You should see the default payment option listed below. To change this option, tap it and then tap again. There are promotional codes and credit/debit cards here. When not requesting a ride, you can add cards via the Payment methods button screen inside the menu.

Step 7: You can choose the type of service you want.

If you don't pre-schedule for another day, your driver will be found for you and will leave for your location.Your trip should now be scheduled if you scheduled it in advance.

Step 8: If asked, confirm your pickup location.

It's important that you're where you say you are in small to medium-size towns. To confirm pickup, double check the address or name of the business.Pick a different address if you're not there.Don't forget that you're changing your location, not your final destination. You can input an address, but make sure it's the same as your pickup location.

Step 9: Allow the driver to finish their ride with you.

The "Complete trip" red bar will be slid at the end.

Step 10: You can rate the driver.

If it didn't show up on the main screen, you can use the workaround by tapping the menu button in the top left corner, finding the trip, and selecting the rating.Five stars will be the default rating, but can be changed.4 star ratings will be to the left of the right-most star and three stars will also be left, with a 1-star rating all the way down the box.

Step 11: If the ride was an excellent five stars, select a Driver Compliment.

If you aren't planning to give the driver a tip, Driver Compliments are a great pick-me-ups.

Step 12: The "Give a compliment" button should be just below the "Write a note" one.

If you rated your driver with a 5-star rating and gave them a compliment, you can use this button to write notes to them.

Step 13: If you gave them any other rating besides 5 stars, you should choose the rating reason.

If you choose the 4 star rating or less, you'll see a selection of choices inside several rectangular box/buttons on the screen.

Step 14: Go to the screen.

The place to tip your driver is at the bottom of the screen.

Step 15: If you want to tip your driver, tap the tip choice.

Either tap a choice or tap the "Custom Amount" button and add a custom amount as your tip, or you can scroll up a bit more. You have thirty days to tip your driver, but if you need more time to decide how much or need time for the money to arrive, you must finish rating them within several hours of your ride.

Step 16: The driver was rated the finish rating.

The "continue" button can be found at the bottom of the screen.
