How To Reset a Windows 7 Password

If you forget your password for Windows 7, you will need to reset it in order to log in.If your computer is part of a Home Group or workgroup, you can use a password reset disk to reset your Windows 7 password.There are two ways to reset a Windows 7 password.

Step 1: Click on the menu to start the computer.

Step 2: You can select the control panel.

Step 3: You can choose "User Accounts" within the Control Panel.

Step 4: Select "User Accounts" again, then select "Manage User Accounts."

Step 5: The administrator password is the one you have to type.

Step 6: Click on the tab labeled users.

Step 7: Below the section entitled, "Users for this computer," you can find the name of the user account that needs to be reset.

Step 8: Next to the user name, click on the "Reset Password" button.

Step 9: To confirm a new Windows 7 password, type it again at the prompt.

Step 10: Click on it.

The user account password for Windows 7 will be reset.

Step 11: A flash drive can be inserted into your computer.

Step 12: Click on the "Start" button to begin.

Step 13: You can click on User Accounts and Family Safety.

Step 14: You can select user accounts.

Step 15: You can create a password reset disk by clicking on it.

The password can be seen on the screen.

Step 16: Select your disk from the drop-down window when you click "Next" in the wizard.

Step 17: Click "Next" if you want to type in your current password.

Step 19: Remove the hardware from your computer and store it in a safe place.

If you forget your password, you will need a disk.

Step 20: You can put the password reset information on the disk drive.

Step 21: After Windows 7 has confirmed that you've typed an incorrect password, click on "Reset password" below your user account.

There is a password reset wizard on display.

Step 22: Select the name of the disk that contains the Windows 7 password reset information.

Step 23: Click "Next" and type a new password.

Step 24: Click "Finish" after clicking "Next."

Step 25: Remove the disk from the computer.

You will be able to log in to your account with a new password.
