How To Restore Human Hair Wigs

Wigs made of human hair are more natural and last longer. They can be a great way to change your look, whether you wear it every day or just for special occasions. If your wig becomes matted or tangled, don't throw it away, you may be able to return it to its original condition. You'll be wearing your favorite wig again in no time if you use hot water and conditioner and clean it with bleach and ammonia.

Step 1: One gallon of hot water is enough to fill three bowls.

You should use bowls or containers that won't be used for food. You will have to empty, rinse, and refill it twice if you use just one bowl or sink.

Step 2: The first bowl should have 2 ounces of Clorox bleach.

The bleach will make it easier to untangle the hair.It will remove dirt and oils from the hair. You may want to wear rubber gloves if you get bleach on your skin.

Step 3: Take your wig to the bleach bowl and comb it for 3 minutes.

Use a wide-toothed comb or a vent brush to slowly comb through the wig while it is in the bleach water. It should be easy to untangle.Don't leave the wig in the bleach water for more than 3 minutes as it may affect the color of it.

Step 4: Move the wig to the 2nd bowl.

After it interacts with the bleach, it will clean the hair and bring it back to a natural level of acidity. The wig needs to be moved around in the water for a few minutes to get the bleach out.

Step 5: Add 2 ounces of ammonia to the wig by placing it in the 3rd bowl.

What's left of bleach in your wig will be mitigated by ammonia. While it's in the ammonia water, use a wide-toothed comb or vent brush to gently comb through the wig.

Step 6: The wig needs to be washed with hot water in the sink.

The wig should be held so that the bottom of the cap is facing up.This will keep the hair from getting tangled while you wash it.

Step 7: The wig is still wet and should be washed with conditioner.

You should wet the wig thoroughly in the sink if you didn't do a bleach bath.Leave at least 2 ounces of conditioner in the wig.

Step 8: The wig can be microwaved for 30 seconds.

The steam inside the bag will help to keep the hair dry.If you want to fit the wig inside the bag, use a large zippable bag.

Step 9: The wig should be in the bag for at least an hour.

If the bag is hot, be careful when handling it.It will take time to absorb the water, steam and conditioner if it is left in the bag.A hot steamed towel can be placed over the bag to help retain some of the heat.

Step 10: The wig should be combed with a wide-toothed comb.

If you want to brush through the wig while it's still wet, place it on a wig head and hold it upright. It should feel good.

Step 11: The wig should be air-dried on the wig head.

Put the hair on a wig head and squeeze any excess water out.It is possible to pin it up by its cap to dry, but this could stretch or distort the shape of the cap.

Step 12: It's a good idea to wash and condition your wig regularly.

If you wear a wig frequently, you should care for it the same way you would your own hair. You should wash and condition it at least three times a day.

Step 13: You should store your wig.

Keeping your hair on a wig head is the best way to keep it untangled and smooth. This will keep the hair in its natural position, and it's not likely to be moved as often as if it were in a drawer or closet.

Step 14: Divide the hair into ponytails to keep it in place when not in use.

It is helpful to secure your hair into ponytails to keep it from getting tangled. If you want to avoid putting too much pressure on the hair, use a ribbon or loose ponytail holder.

Step 15: The wig should be placed inside a bag to protect it from the elements.

If you don't plan on using your wig for a while, or if you're not able to store it on a wig head, put it inside a bag to keep it moist. It will be soft and smooth, which will keep the hair from getting tangled.

Step 16: You can use a flat iron to fix your wig.

If the hair on your wig is straight, you can use a flat iron to smooth it out if you don't have time for a longer treatment.Divide the hair into sections and run a flat iron through each section, following it with a brush.
