This guide will teach people how to set up the internet on a PC using a dial-up modem and will also show them how they can change settings on their PC.Along with setting up the computer, the guide will show you how to create an internet connection.The last step is to connect the PC to the internet.Users will be able to do many things after following all the instructions listed.
Step 1: Call your internet service provider to get your service.
The customer care person should give you your user name, phone number, and password while you are on the phone.You can log on securely with this.
Step 2: Make sure your PC is plugged in.
The Telephone jack outlet is located on the wall of the room you are in.The PC power should be turned on.
Step 3: You can go to the control panel.
You should be on the main desktop page when your PC is done.You should see some of the icons.The icon is called my computer.I need to enter my computer.There is a small square panel to the left of your screen that says "other places".There are four items you can click on.Click on the one that says control panel.
Step 4: Go to other people's networks.
There are various icons in the control panel.Adding new software to your computer, changing your mouse icon, adding a new user to the computer and editing your internet account are some of the things you can do with the control panel.The icon that says "network connections" is located in the control panel.To enter, double click the icon.
Step 5: A new connection is created.
You won't see anything on this screen.There is a small square panel on the left side of the screen that says "network tasks".There is a small icon that says "create a new connection".This icon can be entered.
Step 6: Click the next button if a small window pops up.
Step 7: There are 4 different bulletins to choose from.
The dial-up connection is being set up.Click the one that says to connect to the internet.Click on the next button.
Step 8: You can click on the bulletin that says "set up my connection manually"
Click the next one.
Step 9: Click on the bulletin that says "connect using a dial up modem" to see more.
Click on the next button.
Step 10: You will be asked to type in your internet service provider name.
You can name it whatever you want.Click the next button if you want to type in your name and last name.
Step 11: Click the next button if you want to type in the phone number that you received from customer care while setting up your account.
Step 12: One of the boxes asks for your user name.
Three of them are for your password.You should type in your user name.You have to do the same thing for the password after you get your user name from your internet service provider.Click the next button when you have filled in the 3 boxes.
Step 13: You will be told by the setup that you have finished setting up the internet connection.
