How To Set up DHCP Network Settings on Windows XP

The following instructions may be different depending on your operating system.

Step 1: Click on the start button.

Step 2: You can go to the control panel.

Step 3: Click on "Network Connections" once opened.

Step 4: An icon labeled "Local Area Connection" should be what you see.

Depending on how many network cards you have in your PC, there may be more than one network connection."Wireless Network Connection" is for various types of wireless network connections.

Step 5: There is a list of items in the middle of a window.

Click on it and then click on theProperties button.

Step 6: A new window will open and you will be able to obtain an internet address.

Step 7: Select "Obtain DNS server address automatically"

Step 8: Click OK if you want to close the window.

Step 9: Click OK again to close the second window.
