How To Set Up the Fingerprint Scanner on an Android Device

The user can have an alternate security measure on their mobile devices with the use of fingerprints.The latest devices to have fingerprints are the S5 and Note 4.A notable device released earlier in the year is theHTC One Max.Users will be able to get into their devices with just a slide or tap of a registered finger, as opposed to using a screen or password.

Step 1: The settings menu can be opened.

You can access the notification panel by sliding down from the top of the screen.The settings icon is in the upper right corner of the panel.To open the settings menu, tap it.

Step 2: You can access the manager.

There are a number of customization options in the settings menu.If you use a Note 4 or the galaxy S5 with a blue-colored circular background, you will see a fingerprint icon.

Step 3: You have to set up a fingerprints.

There is aFingerprint Manager option in the Finger Scanner menu.There will be a list of fingerprints.If you tap on the plus icon in the upper right corner of the screen, a screen will show you how to use the home button.The number in the row of indicators will change color with each successful detection if you smudge your finger 8 times for S5 and 10 for Note 4.To register the desired fingerprints, you must complete 8–10 successful fingerprints.The device will say "Fingerprint registered" below the row of numbers once successfully registered.The S5 and Note 4 allow for up to 3 fingerprints to be registered.

Step 4: It's possible to try it.

The device can be unlocked using the fingerprints.Pressing the Power button in the upper right side of your device will allow you to access the lock screen.You can use your recently registered finger to make a gesture over the home button.If the fingerprints were successful, the device should enter the home screen.

Step 7: The option to open is Fingerprint Scan.

The "Fingerprint Scan" icon is located under the "Personal" section of the menu.If you have yet to set up your fingerprints, it will not ask for a scanned one.It requires you to use a registered finger to access the menu.

Step 8: You have to register a new one.

To register a new finger, tap the plus icon with the text "Learn new fingerprint".When an introductory screen comes up, you can continue by pressing the Continue button at the lower right and tapping on one of the hands on the screen.The finger you selected should be smudged at the back four times.The device will vibrate when it is scanned.

Step 9: You should assign a function.

Now that you have registered a finger, you can set what the device will do.If you want to choose a specific app that will open after you, you can tap on a circle that says "Choose from all apps."When you are done, tap "Apply" to finalize the setting.If the screen is locked, the fingerprints won't work.To get to the lock screen, you must first press the Power button, and then use your finger to move the scanning device.
