How To Stretch Plastic Shoes

You can find a shoe with a less than perfect fit.The stretching process is more difficult with synthetic materials.Your shoes can be found with the use of household items like kitchen storage bags and a hairdryer.

Step 1: Put thick socks on the shoe.

Before putting on a shoe, wear thick socks to give it more room to stretch. It's a good idea to wear one or two pairs.Zip the shoes up as far as they can go.If you want to stretch the most, wear thick wool socks.

Step 2: The blow dryer can be used in 30 second intervals.

To heat the areas that feel tight, hold the blow dryer a few inches away from the shoe. The plastic will expand if you wiggle your foot and toes.As you heat the shoe, make the zip up to promote stretching and a perfect fit.

Step 3: When the shoe cools, walk while wearing it.

Walk around the house to allow the shoe to stretch more while it's still hot from the blow dryer. To allow the shoe to expand, leave the thick socks on.

Step 4: Take your socks off and try on the shoe.

Use this time to make sure that the shoes fit.Continue to blow dry and stretch if they still don't feel right.Work the shoe with heat and make sure it fits. You can stretch the fit of shoes that come past the ankle or calf by running your thumb between your skin and the shoe.

Step 5: The bag should be filled with water.

The bag will not come undone during the process. It should be filled with enough water to fit inside your shoe.Seal the bag tightly after removing the excess air.If you overfill the bag it could cause water damage to the shoe.

Step 6: Put the bag in the shoe.

The bag should be pushed into the toe area of your shoe.If you want to be stretched, the bag should fit snug into the shoe.No water is leaking if the seal is tight.

Step 7: You can freeze your shoes.

Allow the water in your shoe to freeze. The ice will expand as the temperature drops. If you want to protect the outer sides of your shoes, you can put them in a plastic bag and put the rest in the freezer.

Step 8: Take your shoes out for half an hour.

Before removing the bags, allow your shoes and bags to thaw for 30 minutes.Try on your shoes to see if they are big enough. You can repeat the freezing process if you want.

Step 9: Purchase a stretcher that fits your shoe.

Depending on the type of shoe you're trying to stretch, shoe stretchers come in a variety of styles. There will be stretchers for flats, boots, high heels, and other styles.Determine if you need to change the length, width or both. One shoe stretcher can be used on both the left and right shoe.A stretcher can adjust both length and width. There are a number of shoe stretchers, including toe, vamp, and high heels. There are holes in many stretchers for trouble areas.

Step 10: The stretcher needs to be tightened in your shoe.

The shoe stretcher should fit in the shoe when the knobs are turned clockwise. If you want to stretch the shoe, twist the knob three or four more times. The stretcher should be left in the shoe.As to not over stretch the shoes too quickly, start small.

Step 11: Try on a shoe.

Turn the dial clockwise and remove the stretcher.Continue to use the stretcher in your shoe if the shoe is still too tight. When stretching again, use an extra few turns.A loose shoe will not be comfortable and be careful not to over stretch the shoe.
