How To Style Short Hair

Short hair means foregoing typical long styles like braiding or updos, but that doesn't mean you have to compromise on style. You can learn how to style your short haircut in a variety of ways.

Step 1: Take care of your hair.

Don't use a product that will cause your hair to fall out.Use a soft towel to pat the excess water out of your hair.

Step 2: Add a product.

Your hair should be smooth from the tips to the roots. You can use an anti-frizz gel or a product that is specifically made for hair growth.

Step 3: Take your hair out.

The straight, sleek style looks best when your hair is parted on one side or the other. If you want to smooth it down, use a comb.

Step 4: Your hair needs to be dried.

To blow your hair dry, use a blow dryer and a round brush.Run the brush through your hair as you pick it up.Continue until all of your hair is dry.If you hold the hair dryer too close to your head, it will cause your hair to look less straight and sleek.Since the tool prevents air from flowing over your hair in a direct stream, you shouldn't use it.

Step 5: A straightening iron can be used.

You can touch up areas that weren't straightened with the blow dryer by heating and ironing them.Take care of the tips of your hair.

Step 6: You should sweep your hair across your forehead.

The style looks pretty when the bangs are swept to the side.To move the tips of your bangs across your forehead, use your finger or the end of a comb.

Step 7: The look needs to be finished.

Put it in place with a few squirts of spray paint.Add barrettes, a headband, or a hair clip for a final touch.

Step 8: You should wash your hair.

Prepare your hair for the wavy, tousled look by taking care of it.If you want to add volume to your hair, use products that add body and volume. When you're done, pat the hair with a towel.

Step 9: You can blow dry your hair.

It's best to use a diffuser for this look. The device diffuses the hot air so that it doesn't get into your hair.If you don't have a hair dryer, use the lowest setting to dry your hair.

Step 10: The spray is called a texturizing spray.

Salt-based sprays give layers of hair a "piecey," textured look. You can make your own texturizing spray by mixing salt and water. You can use your fingers to spray it over your hair.

Step 11: Pomade can be used to style your hair.

Rub a small amount of pomade between your hands.Straighten the top of your hair from back to front, then sweep your bangs to one side of the other. It should be smooth in the back and sides.

Step 12: Start with dry hair.

When your hair isn't freshly washed, this method works better.Wait until it has been a day or two since you last washed your hair.If you want to make your hair look better, use a dry cleanser.

Step 13: If you want to apply gel, grab a section of hair.

Put some gel on your hand and run it up the section of hair from the roots to the tips.It should be held in place for a moment to make sure it doesn't get spiked.

Step 14: Continue spiking it.

If you want to apply the gel in the same way, grab a section of hair at a time. You can make the spikes even or alternate smaller spikes with larger ones.Continue until you reach your goal.

Step 15: Help set it up.

Before you go about your day, spray the spikes with hair spray. They can be held in place if you wear a headband.

Step 16: Start with dry hair.

Since this style requires holding your hair against its natural grain, you'll want to start with hair that has a little natural oil distributed throughout to help hold it in place. If you don't, your hair will want to flop.

Step 17: Your hair needs to be combed back.

To comb it away from your face, use a comb.Lift your hair from your head with the help of the comb. The slicked back style has volume added to it.If you want a slicked look, skip the volume-adding technique and just comb your hair back.If you want a less severe look, part your hair on one side and then back, rather than combing straight back from the forehead.

Step 18: Put it in a spray can.

To hold the style in place, use maximum hold spray. If you don't apply enough to the sides, front, and top of your hair, it will move out of place after a few hours. If your hair comes loose from the spray, consider wearing a headband. If you want to keep the slicked back style in place, you can pin your bangs back with barrettes.

Step 19: A bun is made using a twist clip.

You should divide your hair into two parts.Hold it in place with a clip and repeat it on the other side.Be careful not to let go of the two strands of hair, pull together and tie into a ponytail. You should have a small hole between the twists at the top of the elastic when you have done that.Pull the rest of the ponytail out.

Step 20: Make a crown for a princess.

Before your ears reach, take two sections on each side of your head. You can either brush one side back or twist it.On both sides repeat. You should tie at the back of your head. The higher the better for the princess crown look.

Step 21: Use clips, bows, and headbands.

There are clips that can give your hair a different look.Adding butterfly or flower shaped clips will help you pull your hair back.If you have a large bow at the back of your hair, it can make it look shiny and pretty. If pulled all the way back, headbands can make your hair look bigger. Also bows and flowers can add height to the headband.
