How To Survive Being a Single Mother

Death of a spouse, divorce, abandonment or choice can cause women of any age to become single parents.Here are a few suggestions to maintain mental health, thrive as an individual and nurture your children in the best possible way.

Step 1: Your health and well being are very important.

Don't be afraid to seek help from friends, family or a health care professional if you are struggling or depressed, take steps to ensure that you take care of yourself.

Step 2: A blameless mindset is maintained.

Give yourself time to create and clarify your values.

Step 3: There are many good, kind, loving people in society.

Step 4: Consider the skills that you already have.

Do you like to read?Do you know more than one language?

Step 5: For assistance with food, clothing, medical needs, shelter and future education, look to close family, universities and social agencies.

Step 6: Take responsibility.

Be careful.Constraints with limited funds don't allow anyone to take advantage or force us to make a decision.WE are the mothers.As long as we have love for our child, our morals are intact, and we behave in a legally responsible manner, all should work out for the best.

Step 7: Hospitals can refer you to child crisis centers if you check the phone books.

Step 8: If you're in a bad neighborhood, leave.

Ensuring the safety of your child/ren is a priority.

Step 9: Don't give up on yourself.

It can be difficult to finish college while being a single parent, but you can.

Step 10: You should have a support system that you are comfortable with.

If you're going to be away, make sure you have friends who can make healthy decisions for your child.

Step 11: State funded grants can be used for food, housing and school.

Step 12: Ignore people who are critical of you.

Step 13: Keep your home clean and in order.

Cleanliness is related to health.

Step 14: Learn how to respond to an emergency.

You can take infant and childCPR classes from the Red Cross or hospital.

Step 15: Take parenting classes.

If you speak to the receptionist, the classes will be free.The Red Cross doesn't deny anyone classes for being unable to pay.The classes can save someone's life.It's a learned skill to be a parent.

Step 16: Parent skills are learned.

If we think we want to leave something behind or improve upon it, we should do so.

Step 17: You are the architect, because every day is created anew.

Step 18: A character building environment for your child can be created by having dignity for yourself and building confidence.

Step 19: Fight the loneliness.

When you're lonely, call a friend or family member.

Step 20: Accept parental responsibility.

Step 21: We need to learn from our children.

That is a continuum that is always evolving.
