How To Tame Your Winter White Hamster

White hamsters are great pets that bring a lot of joy to their owners.Hamsters and winter white hamsters tend to nip their owners when anxious. You can tame your hamster by calming it, caring for it properly, and handling it appropriately.

Step 1: The hamster should be left alone for the first 3 to 4 days.

If you bring your new hamster home, give it a few days to get used to it.Your hamster is likely to be hidden while you are around. As it gets used to the sounds and sights of its new home, it will start to come out of it's nest.It will be easier to tame it.A quiet part of your home is where the hamster cage should be.It is not a good idea to place your hamster's cage near a doorway because of the loud noises it will make.

Step 2: Begin to learn the sound of your voice.

On the first day you bring your hamster home, take a few moments to talk to it.It will get used to the way you sound and associate you with your voice.Keep its anxiety at a minimum by speaking in soothing tones.

Step 3: Put your hand inside the cage and grab a hamster treat.

You shouldn't put your hand next to your hamster.Place your hand on the other side of the cage and wait for your hamster to inspect the food. The time it takes each hamster to feel comfortable varies.Fruits and vegetables may include bananas, cabbage, carrots, and dried fruit.Do not give them acidic snacks.Limit the use of fruits as a treat. As some winter white hamsters are at a higher risk of diabetes than the average hamster, make sure to balance fruit treats with vegetable ones.If your hamster does not approach your hand after 7 to 10 minutes, leave the food in the cage and try again the next day.

Step 4: As the hamster approaches the treat, let it sniff your hand.

Sniffing your hand helps it get used to your scent.Since your hamster will startle easily, don't make any sudden movements with your hand.

Step 5: If the treat won't take it from you, put it on the floor.

It may take a while for your hamster to eat the treat. After it sniffs your hand, gently place the treat on the floor a few inches away from the hamster.

Step 6: Feed your hamster a treat.

Your hamster will begin to trust you a bit more each time, and eventually it will be comfortable to take the treat from your hand.Try a different strategy if your hamster remains anxious, hides, or bites you when you attempt to handle it for several weeks.Take it to a vet to see if it's sick.

Step 7: You should wash your hands with soap.

When your hamster appears relaxed, such as when it is playing or grooming itself, you want to wait until it has begun to venture out of its nest and explore on its own. Then wash your hands with soap and water.

Step 8: Put your hands in the cage and let your pet smell them.

Move slowly so you don't scare the hamster. You can let the hamster sniff them by cupping your hands together. If it doesn't climb into your hands, you can try nudging it.Wait until your hamster stops growling or showing their teeth before you start.

Step 9: When your hamster climbs in, hold it with both hands.

You don't want to squeeze the hamster too tightly.Make a cradle with your hands high enough so that your hamster won't fall out and face you.

Step 10: Lift your hamster off the ground.

You don't want your hamster to hurt itself if it jumps out of your palm.If your hamster tries to jump out of your hand, avoid sudden movements. There are white winter hamsters. It is a good idea to hold them over an enclosed space so that they are not loose in your home.If your hamster gets free, keep them away from other household pets.Your hamster won't trust you if you tighten your grip too much.

Step 11: If the hamster bites you, lower it back into its cage.

When your hand is back in their cage, don't try to pull it away from your skin.Pull it away if it does not immediately release its jaws.It is likely to bite harder if you shout at it.If your hamster bites, you should wear gloves.Make sure the gloves are soft enough to not irritate your hamster.

Step 12: For a few minutes each day, hold your hamster.

It will be harder for your hamster to trust you if you don't interact.Playing with your hamster will make it feel more comfortable around you.Your hamster is tame when you pick it up, crawl on it, or pet it.Within a period of two weeks to two months, this will happen.Place your arm on a table and encourage it to crawl up and down with treats. While you sit in the empty bathtub, you can let your hamster crawl over you.
