How To Train Homing Pigeons with the Widowhood System.

For more than 80 years, widowhood racing has existed.Straight widowhood is the most efficient and productive way to race pigeons. The hens are favored by every other system. The cocks are favored by widowhood.

Step 1: Before the race, let the cocks spend 30 minutes with hens.

They are left with the hens for two hours after a long race. After week three, open the next boxes for 15 minutes. Before the hens are brought in, remove the cocks that are not racing. The cocks that did not race to the hens in the morning should be thrown or placed in a different location.

Step 2: You should feed the day before the race.

It's the day to eat for the race.If shipping is next day, feed them a mixture of 20% barley, 70% European mix and 10% safflower/hemp/flaxseed.

Step 3: Feed 1/3 ounce per bird European mix on the day of shipping.

Feed 14 ounce per bird. They may get dehydrated if they are fed too late in the afternoon. The water is always fresh.

Step 4: It's a good idea to give a warm bath on the day of shipping.

The bath calms the birds and helps them sleep all night on the truck. If rain is predicted, skip the bath.

Step 5: Feed when you return.

Feed half European mix and half depurative mix on the day of return to build back reserves.75% depurative, 25% European, on Thursday through Wednesday. The pre-shipping step is above. On the day of return, one gallon of water must contain 14 of iodized salt along with a good friendlybacteria.

Step 6: Prepare for a race.

Feed the birds 50% depurative and 50% European mix on Saturday and Tuesday.Feed in the morning and evening. The day of shipping feed is 50% European mix and 50% safflower, hemp, rape and flax mix.Feed the birds all they want.Fresh clear water with vitamins and electrolytes on Thursday. The day before shipping is when pigeons should get vitamins and electrolytes.

Step 7: Feed on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

For one feeding mix one 12 to one degree of flaxseed oil on the grain and add yeast, Belgium pink minerals, and iodized salt.It should be in front of pigeons all the time. There is a pot of Belgium pink minerals, a brown mineral block, oyster shells, and mixed commercial grit.

Step 8: If performance is falling off, follow this step.

The cocks will spend the night with the hens.24 hours before shipping, bring in the hens.Put in the material for the nest. When they return, let the cocks spend the night with the hens.Go back to being a widow. They will be in great shape and ready to go again.

Step 9: Changing things will keep pigeons fresh.

Before shipping week three, only one really good hen was put in.Put in bowls for the first time.Just a crate and a ship for week five. One strange cock can be added to the loft widow for one hour before shipping.hen come in 24 hours before week seven.hen waiting for cocks to return from raceUse thedowhood System-to-Train-Homing-Pigeons-Step 10 is a smallUrl.

Step 10: Don't let the hens mate if you keep them on wire.

The hens will see the cocks when they are fed rich European mix. When the cocks come home, you don't want them to think about eating.Feed the hens five days a week.Keep them hungry and not heavy. The cocks and hens have the same medications.Don't allow them to re-infect cocks. If hens mate up, don't use them for roosters.Sharing a hen is not better than a female hen.Stock hens that have been separated can be used. They mate less if you use yearling hens.

Step 11: Every other week, the ship cocks from 300 miles away.

You can use your judgement on how they act.Pool them if they are acting great.

Step 12: For an hour four to five mornings and two or more evenings per week, let the cocks out.

If needed, you can toss cocks that did not race on the day of the race. For the first month of the race season, toss one long toss. They can go two weeks without being thrown or raced if they have raced 300 miles or more. All they need is around the loft. When the hens come back from a toss, don't have them waiting.A loss of form is caused by seeing the hens too much.

Step 13: Stay calm.

Birds are resting so don't go in the loft. All loft chores must be done while they are exercising.Widowers eat, exercise and rest. This is what the game is called. There was no trouble! The loft should be warm.Birds fear something outside if there are open areas. On cold or rainy days, close the loft down.

Step 14: Give the medication.

A good sound health program must be followed with canker and respiratory medication every other week.Use different drugs for each cycle. For canker, rotate flagyl, ridzol and emtryl.Dandruff and suanovil are used for respiratory issues.Baycox for coccidiosis is needed if there is a lot of rain.Fight resistance to the drug by using different drugs. The birds will be wormed around week six or seven.
