A canvas painting is usually drawn.canvas is a great surface for carrying pictures of friends, family, or scenery.If you've got 20 minutes for some crafting, no experience or fancy materials are needed to turn an everyday picture into a beautiful work of art.
Step 1: You need to gather your supplies.
You need four basic materials for this project.You can find the things you'll need in the section.Let's get started.
Step 2: Your image can be printed on a laser printer.
Laser printers are better for photo transfer onto canvas than ink jet printers.What kind of printer do you have?If your printer is small and compact, it's most likely an ink-jet.When the two match perfectly, the size of your image and canvas don't need to be exact.The canvas is larger than the photograph.The final product will look professional if it is less than 3 cm.The image will be reversed.If you're partial to the current arrangement on the photo, reverse the image before you print it out.
Step 3: To cover the front of your canvas, use a thick coat of gel medium.
No need to spend a lot of time on this step, but make sure that there are no gaps in coverage or the photo won't transfer.
Step 4: Press down on the canvas to flatten the image.
Line up one edge first so that the two corners of the canvas and the photo match perfectly.In a sweeping motion, flatten the rest of the photo onto the remaining canvas once that side is put on the gelled canvas.
Step 5: Allow the canvas to dry.
While the gel medium dries, place it in a cool place.
Step 6: The canvas should be lightly wet with water from a spray bottle.
Remove the wet paper with your hand to see the reversed image.Continue spraying and scraper until you have revealed as much of the image as you want.If you want to remove the underlying image, don't scraper too hard.It will be messy.Don't be afraid to leave a small amount of distress on the canvas.This is what gives the image its rustic or vintage look and it pairs well with black and white or sepia tone images.
Step 7: Once you have stripped the paper, apply a final coat of gel medium to the canvas.
The canvas should be dry before hanging, gifting, or using.
Step 8: You should gather your materials.
A special way to preserve color images requires only fine tissue paper, an iron or other flattering material like a stack of books, and glue.
Step 9: To make sure the canvas is the same size as the tissue paper, trim it.
The front of the canvas and the tissue paper should be touching if you place it on a table or other hard surface.Cut around the corners of the tissue paper with a pencil and trace the canvas around it.
Step 10: Take a clothes iron and iron the tissue paper.
Don't use the high setting if you have steam.
Step 11: Place the tissue paper in your printer tray.
The end result will be worth it after a few tries.The printed image should only be as big as the tissue paper if you change your printer settings.It's best to use a standard size when choosing a canvas.A nonstandard-sized canvas is more difficult to get a match for than an 8 1/2 x 11 canvas.
Step 12: Make sure to apply a thin coat of Modge Podge to the canvas.
You can use a brush to get good coverage.
Step 13: Place the tissue paper picture over the canvas before pressing it down.
Before placing the whole image on the canvas, make sure the corner is centered perfectly.
Step 14: If you want to smooth out the tissue paper, use a foam brush.
Work from the inside to get the best results.
Step 15: Remove any tissue paper from the sides of the canvas for a clean look.
Step 16: Before letting it dry, cover with another layer of clear glue.
Pick another type of Modge Podge, or use the same coat.The canvas photo needs to be sealed.
