A pulley bird feeders is a good idea for several reasons.Attaching the pulley and bird feeders to the tree is what treeing means.It's easier to adjust the height if you have a pulley.It's easy to replace the food or take the feeders down when they need to be fixed.Choose a location, create a way to hang the bird feeders, and build the pulley system.
Step 1: You can choose a bird feeders that doesn't weigh more than 10 pounds.
If you don't have a strong rope and pulley, the bird feeders may fall down.Most bird feeders are fine to hang up.
Step 2: There is a tree with a branch.
The weight of the rope, pulley, and bird feeders can not be supported by a weak branch.A secure branch is to be found.A branch with the width of an adult's arm should be thick.Make sure the tree is healthy and not prone to fall in a storm.
Step 3: There is a ladder under the branch.
You should put a ladder underneath the tree where you are going to hang the pulley.You won't have to reach far for the branch if the ladder is tall and sturdy.To be safe, ask someone to hold the ladder for you.
Step 4: The loop needs to be fastened together.
Many bird feeders have a loop.Attach the loop together to make a smaller loop.When attached to the pulley, a smaller loop will be more secure.The smaller loop can be created with a 1/2” (1.3 cm) clamp.If you don't have a loop, you can make one with a metal wire.If your bird feeders has a hook, you don't need to do anything.It's ready to use the pulley.
Step 5: An eye hook can be used.
Attach an eye hook to your bird feeders if you don't want to use a loop.Make sure the eye hook is large enough to fit around the pulley.There is a small hole in the top of the bird feeders.Put the eye hook in.When attached to the pulley, make sure the eye hook is secure.
Step 6: To make sure the bird feeders hold, test the hook or loop.
Hold up the bird feeders when you are done with creating the loop or attaching the hook.It should be moved around a little bit.The bird feeders should stay attached to the loop or hook.
Step 7: The branch should be covered by an S-hook.
The S-hook needs to be large enough to fit over the tree branch.You can loop a rope around the tree branch if the S-hook isn't wide enough.If you are using a rope, make sure it is tightly tied around the branch.
Step 8: The pulley needs to be hung from the S-hook.
A hook should be on the pulley.The bottom hook of the S-hook should be put over the pulley hook.If you don't use an S-hook, tie the rope or chain around the pulley hook.If you use a rope or chain, you can pull it through the hook and tie it around the tree again, creating a large loop.
Step 9: Attach a rope to the pulley.
Make sure the rope is long enough to get you from the ground to the pulley and back down.If you want to thread the rope through the pulley, you have to pull it down towards you from one side.If you have done it correctly, there should be two sides of the rope hanging from the ground.
Step 10: Attach one end of the rope to the bird feeders.
If the top of your bird feeders has a loop, thread the rope through it and tie a knot.If your feeders has a hook, tie the rope around it.Make sure the rope is secure.
Step 11: The rope needs to be tied around the tree.
You should have a free end of the rope once it is attached to the feeders.The rope can be tied around the base of the tree.You can tie the rope around the hook if you hammer it into the tree.If you need to use the pulley, untie the rope.You can tie the rope around the stake and pound it into the ground.
