How To Type With a Virtual Keyboard

Both Mac and PC computers have virtual keyboards that you can use to type.For people who have an easier time using the mouse than the keyboard, virtual keyboards are a great option.

Step 1: You can open the Start menu.

All of your computer's basic programs will be accessible with this.The Start menu can be opened by pressing the Win button on your keyboard.

Step 2: You can open the "All Apps" menu.

All of your applications are listed on this menu.The "All Programs" folder will be labeled differently on some systems.

Step 3: You can find the "Windows Ease of Access" folder.

The "W" section is where the "All Apps" contents are organized.The "Ease of Access" folder can be found within "Accessories" on older operating systems.

Step 4: Go to the "Windows Ease of Access" folder.

Text-to-speech and the virtual keyboard are in this folder.

Step 5: There is a "On-Screen Keyboard" icon.

You can open Windows' virtual keyboard by clicking this.

Step 6: To type, click the virtual keyboard keys.

For special keys, like the Shift key, you have to click once to use the function and then again to not use it.If you need to translate characters from another language to English, you can use the Windows "Character Map" or the internet's translation service.

Step 7: You can open the Apple menu.

You can find it in the upper left corner of the screen.

Step 8: "System Preferences" can be selected.

Step 9: Go to the "Keyboard" folder.

The menu should open with your keyboard's settings.

Step 10: You can click on the "show keyboard and character viewers" box.

The upper right-hand menu bar should have a "Keyboard and Character Viewers" icon.You can exit out of System Preferences and the Keyboard menu after you check the box.

Step 11: From the menu bar, open the keyboard viewer.

This will open the "Keyboard Viewer" menu.

Step 12: Click to view the keyboard viewer.

The keyboard should be on top of the applications.

Step 13: To type, click the virtual keyboard keys.
