How To Use the Uber PIN System for Ride Safety

The PIN system helps ensure that riders are getting into the right vehicle.You can learn how to enable your PIN in the app.

Step 1: You can open the app.

The app icon looks like a white broken circle on a black background, which you can find on your Home screens, in the app drawer, or by searching.

Step 2: The menu has a tap on it.

There are three horizontal lines at the top left corner of the screen.

Step 3: The settings are located at the bottom of the menu.

Step 4: Under the "Safety" header, you can verify your ride.

Step 5: The switch should be on the On position.

Once you enable this feature, you will get more options.

Step 6: When to use the PIN is up to you.

You can choose if you want to use the PIN every time you ride, or you can limit your PIN hours.

Step 7: The Done button is on the screen.

It's at the bottom of the screen.When your driver is about to arrive, each trip will display a unique PIN.

Step 8: Before entering the car, give the driver a PIN.

The app will show the PIN on the screen.The driver will enter it into their version of the app.You'll see a message on your screen once the PIN is verified.If you don't see a verification message on your screen, the driver has either mis- entered your PIN or is not the one who was assigned to pick you up.If the ride cannot be verified, don't ride it.
