How To Wash Bathroom Rugs

Most homes have bathroom rugs positioned outside of the shower or bathtub. They can prevent you from getting the floor wet, but it's easy to forget about them.If you think it's time to wash your bathroom rugs, you can either toss them in the washing machine or wash them by hand.

Step 1: Check the care tags on your rug.

Check the cleaning recommendations before doing anything.Take note of washer and dryer settings if you need to avoid them. The underside of the rug has tags attached to it.The tags have probably been removed if you can't find them.Write down the tag information for each rug so you don't mix them up.

Step 2: Get rid of dirt by shaking your rugs off.

Shake them up and down by holding them vertically by the top 2 corners. Before you get to the real cleaning, this will remove a lot of dust, dander, and dirt. You should shake each rug until you don't see anything.

Step 3: The rubber or plastic backing should be wiped down with a microfiber cloth.

Give your rugs a good wipe if they have rubber backing. If you make sure to get the entire surface, a dry clean is good enough.Microfibers attach themselves to dirt particles, so always use a microfiber cloth.

Step 4: Oxygenated bleach, laundry detergent, and borax can be added to your load.

Throw 1 oxygenated bleach into your washing machine. After that, add your laundry detergent and pour in 2 cup (120 mL) of borax to kill mold. They can break down rubber backing and damage carpets. If you want to remove stains from your carpet, add laundry soap and skip the rest.

Step 5: The washer temperature should be cold.

As hot water tends to loosen the cloth that holds the carpet fibers to the rubber backing, cold water is always recommended. As the glue is destroyed, the carpets will fall apart.Make sure you check your carpet manufacturer's recommendations for water temperature.Warm water is fine if your carpet does not have rubber backing.

Step 6: The carpets should be washed 1 to 3 times a day.

When you're ready, put your carpets in the washing machine and wait.If you're treating your carpets for stains, you can add oxygenated bleach and pour a small amount of borax into the machine after letting it fill up with water.Add bleach and borax to the washing machine with the carpets.

Step 7: If you can, air-dry your carpets in the sun.

Place your carpets outside in the sun if the weather is warm.In addition to drying them, this will help sanitize them.Take them inside once they are completely dry.You can use a dryer if you can't air-dry your carpets.

Step 8: If you can't air-dry, put your carpets in the dryer for 20 minutes.

The rubber backing and carpet fibers can be damaged by heat.Put the heat on low.Once the carpets are dry, remove them immediately so they don't get wet as they wait in the dryer. If the carpets are still wet, you should dry them for another 10 to 20 minutes.

Step 9: Check the care tags for instructions.

Take note of anything that isn't supposed to be used.If you're going to clean more than one carpet, it's a good idea to write down the cleaning instructions for each one.rug care tags can be found on the underside of the rug.Ignore the dryer settings.

Step 10: Remove dirt from your rugs by shaking them off.

They should be held vertically by the top 2 corners. If you want to remove dirt and dust, shake them up and down.If you can't see dirt coming off, continue shaking your rugs.

Step 11: The rugs should be vacuumed.

The front and back surfaces need to be vacuumed.Give it another shake until you don't see anything. The ball-shaped ornaments of entangled threads are delicate to avoid when cleaning the front of the rug.

Step 12: Take a warm water and detergent solution and apply it to your carpet.

Put your warm water and detergent in a bowl.If you want to loosen the dirt on the rug, start with a colorfast cloth.Continue until you have covered everything with the rag.The back of the rug needs to be repeated.

Step 13: Use a toothbrush or stiff-bristled brush to clean the stained areas.

After cleaning the entire surface of your rug, use a toothbrush or stiff-bristled brush to scrub the solution into the rug fibers. As you scrub each area, press the brush down and move it in a clockwise circular motion. The scrubbing process should be repeated for the back of the rug.

Step 14: Air-dry your carpets or use a dryer.

Place your carpets in the sun until they're completely dry if it's warm outside. It is possible to place your carpets in the dryer for 20 minutes. When they're done, be sure to remove them immediately. If your carpets are still wet after the initial dry, you should dry them for another 10 to 20 minutes.
