How To Wax hands.

Wax hands can be made with a few items that are cheap at hobby stores and hardware stores. You can either make a hollow wax hand or make it into a candle. An adult should be in charge of all the stages where hot wax is involved.

Step 1: Follow safety procedures.

If an adult follows the instructions correctly, this process is not too dangerous. If you skip any of the steps, you increase the risk of fire, especially if you heat the wax directly instead of using the double boiler setup described here.Baking soda or a fire extinguisher can be used to extinguish the fire if the wax ignites.Adding water or a fire extinguisher to a wax fire can cause an explosion.

Step 2: Add some water to the pan.

2 inches of water is all you need. The lower half of a makeshift double boiler will be here.If you already have a double boiler, fill the lower pan with water and then add the wax.

Step 3: The pan should have a metal stand in it.

Place the metal cookie cutter or metal jar lid on the base of the pan under the water.

Step 4: A smaller pan can be added.

Place the aluminum or steel pan on top of the metal stand.Non-stick pans are difficult to clean because they can react with wax.Unless you're using food grade wax or wax, don't use this pan again. The taste of your food may be affected by the wax, but it won't hurt you.

Step 5: The small pan has small pieces of wax in it.

If you want to use wax from a hobby retailer, you can remove the wicks from used candles.Throw the wax into the smaller pan if you cut it into pieces.Make sure you have enough wax on your hands.

Step 6: You can add color.

You can purchase wax dye or candle dye from a hobby store or shave crayon wax into the mix.Follow the instructions on the label if you're using a dye product. If a color addition is labeled non-toxic, it's best to assume that it isn't safe for food.Don't use this pan for cooking if you add color here.

Step 7: You should set up your other materials.

Before heating the wax, read over one of the two methods below and gather any materials you need.A container of water is all you need to make hollow wax hands. To make a solid wax hand, you'll need a bucket of damp sand, a dowel, and a candle. Before heating the wax, read the instructions below.

Step 8: When the wax is completely melted, stir the mixture.

Place the double boiler on the stove.Use a steel or aluminum utensil to stir. This utensil isn't suitable for cooking if the wax is not food grade. It can take a long time if the wax is large.Wax should never be left unattended while it's being heated.

Step 9: Remove from heat.

Take the pan off the heat and use one of the methods below.

Step 10: Cool water can be put in a container.

You need to dip your whole hand into the bucket.Leave room at the top to avoid spilling, but fill it up most of the way.Food coloring can be added to the water to color your hands. If you don't want to use non-food-safe dyes or crayons in your pan, this may be a better coloring option.

Step 11: Wait for the wax to cool.

Wait for the wax to cool before you melt it.Touching hot wax can cause serious burns, so it's best to use a candy thermometer or candle-making thermometer to make sure the wax is safe. The wax needs to be slightly lower in temperature before it is ready. If a film forms over the wax, return the pan to heat and let it cool.

Step 12: The hand and wrist should be wiped with hand lotion.

Don't rub the lotion on your skin if you cover your hand and wrist. You should be covered with the lotion. It will be easy to remove the wax hands without breaking them.

Step 13: It is a good idea to lightly wet your hand.

You can put one hand in the bucket of water. The water should be removed from your hand.

Step 14: You can dip your hand in wax.

Pull the hand out again by dipping it in the warm wax.If you want to make removal easy, you have to dip your hand in the base.Pick a hand shape and keep it in that position for the rest of the method.

Step 15: Keep dipping.

Place your hand between the water and wax. You'll add more wax to your hand each time. After eight dips, an average-sized wax hand is ready, but a small child's hand may be ready after three to four. The last thing you should do is go for a water dip. This will make it easier to adhere the final layer of wax.

Step 16: Take off your hand.

You can loosen the wax hand by sliding it under the wrist. To help it glide off, dip it under the water level. If the hand is stuck, you can poke a hole in the wax fingertips with a pencil tip.

Step 17: The finishing touches should be made.

One last time, dip it in water.Use your fingers to smooth out any bumps or tears while the wax is still soft. The job is done when the wax is air-dried.You can either dip the wrist end of the hand into the warm wax or fold the edges inward to make a sturdy base.If the wax wrist is torn or short, this won't work.

Step 18: Put sand in a bucket.

When it is damp but firm, mix water into sand bit by bit.It should hold shapes.Sand can be purchased at home improvement stores.

Step 19: Place your hand in the sand.

Press your fingers and hand into the sand.Don't make any extra holes if you pull your hand out again. There is a hollow in the sand that holds the shape of your hand.

Step 20: Attach a candle to the hole.

Put a candle or braided cotton string over the bucket. The hollow left by your hand should be adjusted so it hangs down. The candle must touch the bottom of the hole to burn with the fingers pointing upward.

Step 21: The wax should be put into the mold.

To melt the wax, follow the instructions.Carefully pour the wax into the hollow left by the sand after it has melted completely.Gloves are worn when pouring hot wax.

Step 22: Let the wax set be opened.

Depending on the type of wax and the size of your hand, this can take anywhere from 2 to 8 hours, but leaving it overnight is a good idea.

Step 23: The candle needs to be removed.

Once the wax is set, you can dig out the sand around it, or place a plastic bag over the mouth of the bucket and slowly tip the whole thing over.If the wax hand is seeped out of the original hollow, you may need to trim it.Your hand candle is complete once that is done.
