How To Wrap a Round Gift

It gets difficult to wrap gifts when they are circular. It's difficult to fold your paper without wrinkling it or making the present look bulky because they don't have edges. You can wrap that cylinder like a pro with some strategic folding and cutting.

Step 1: Wrap a piece of paper around it.

If you want to cover the gift completely, you need a length of wrapping paper that is longer than the width. When the gift is in the center of the paper, you should have at least a few inches of paper left over on either side.Depending on the size of your gift, the paper size may be different.Since you can always trim off extra paper at the end, it is better to be on the side of caution.

Step 2: Put the gift on top of the bowl under the paper.

It is easier to wrap a gift if it is put on top of a bowl or roll of tape.Place your gift in the center of your paper after you slid the bowl under it.The gift should be to the left and right, with the long sides in front and behind it.Use a bowl or tape roll that is small enough to hold your object up.

Step 3: Wrap the object in wrapping paper.

Pull the long side of the wrapping paper towards you, bending it up and over the top, if you reach across your gift with one hand.Make sure it reaches the center of your gift, and let the excess paper jut out to the sides.

Step 4: Go around the ball and cover it with the wrapping paper.

In one hand, hold the edge of the paper against the gift.Pick up the rest of the paper and fold it into the top.As you move around the gift, hold the paper in one hand.Depending on the size of the gift, you can make the folds large or small. When you get to the other side of the ball, switch hands so that you can fold the paper with the hand closest to it.

Step 5: The excess paper should be tied with a ribbon.

Wrap all the wrapping paper at the top with a ribbon. You can put tape on it to make it more secure.Cut excess wrapping at the top until it is a few inches long. You don't have to hold the paper and cut the ribbon at the same time if you cut your ribbon before you start wrapping.

Step 6: There is an object in the center of your wrapping paper.

Measure your paper first to make sure it covers the gift.Set your gift in the middle so that the long sides are in front and the short side are behind it.

Step 7: Attach the long sides of the paper to the object.

Pull the long side that is furthest from you and the other one over the top of the gift the same way. They need to overlap and there is no gap.To secure them in place, use a 1–4 in piece of tape.If your gift is large, you may need a bigger piece of tape. You can use your best judgement to see what works best.

Step 8: At one end of the gift, make triangular folds.

Pull the wrapping paper down so that it is flush against the gift at one of the open ends.Pull one side in to form a triangle. When you have one pointed flap of fabric sticking out, repeat on the other side.To make the wrapping neat, pull the side flaps tightly.

Step 9: Pull up the flap and tape it down.

Hold the side flaps tightly against the center.Press the flap against the gift.To hold it in place, use a small piece of tape.

Step 10: On the other side of the gift, repeat.

Do the same things on the other side of the gift to wrap it.To give it a neater overall look, pull out any crinkles at the corners.

Step 11: The cylinder should be placed in the middle of the paper.

If you bend the paper towards the flat end of the object, it will hit at the middle.Make sure the paper is long enough to fully wrap around the gift with at least 1 inch of overlap. The flat ends of the gift should be facing the paper.

Step 12: Attach the short ends of the paper to the gift.

Pull the short ends over the curved side of the cylinder. While you do the same with the other side, hold it in place. As long as the side overlaps, tape it into place with a strip of tape.Double-sided tape can be used for a neater look.Roll the paper and smooth the tape onto the underside of the gift edge.

Step 13: The gift has one flat end.

Carefully fold the top edge of the paper over the flat side to make sure the gift is still in the center.Make sure it is as close to the object as you can.

Step 14: The triangle should be folded towards the center.

Put the top of the paper down.Pull the paper gently when pinching it on one side. The crease should point toward the center of the circular end.

Step 15: The diagonal crease should be made a second time.

You can do the same thing by pinching a bit of the loose paper next to the crease.Make a diagonal fold that overlaps the fold you just made.Hold the two creases in place with one hand.

Step 16: All the way around the flat end.

Continue stretching the gift across the flat end of the paper until you reach the bottom half. You want them to stay in place while you move across the gift. The gift should look a bit like a spiral when it's finished. You can roll the gift to make it easier to fold.

Step 17: The center should be secured with a piece of tape.

Take a small piece of tape and place it over the center of the flat end, where the creases point to.If you want to hide the center of the creases, tie or stick a bow over it.
