How To Wrap Clothing

There are a few ways to make it easier to neatly wrap a soft piece of clothing. If you want to eliminate messy side folds, try folding your paper like an envelope. If you want a style that resembles a firework, you could roll up your clothing item in tissue paper and tie it at the ends. You can put your gift in a bag to make it look presentable.

Step 1: The item of clothing should be folded.

The method works for T-shirts, pants, dresses, skirts, scarves, and any other piece of clothing that can be folded into a square or rectangular shape. If you bought the item and it was folded and wrapped in plastic, you can wrap it.If you are wrapping a T-shirt, lay it upside down on a flat surface and fold in both sleeves. If you want the collar to line up with the hem of the shirt, you have to fold it back.If you are giving a pair of pants, fold them in half so the legs line up.If you want the waistband to line up with the hem, fold it in half.Continue to fold in half.

Step 2: Measure the width of your paper.

Unroll a large piece of wrapping paper. There is a folded piece of clothing in the center.Use two fingers to measure the space on the right and left sides of the clothing item, then trim the excess paper with scissors. The printed side should be facing down.

Step 3: The wrapping paper should be cut to the correct length.

The bottom flap has to be long enough to cover the entire clothing item. You should be able to fold the top flap halfway across your clothing. To trim the wrapping paper, use a pair of scissors. The folded piece of clothing should be flush with the bottom edge of the wrapping paper.

Step 4: Double-stick tape is used to secure the flaps.

Smooth the piece of clothing by folding the flap over it.The tape should be applied to the inside edge of the flap.Press the patterned side of the paper with your fingers to secure the tape after folding the bottom flap over the top flap. You can use regular tape if you don't have double-stick tape. After folding the bottom flap over the top flap, apply the tape. The top and bottom of the wrapping paper should be sealed. The left and right sides are open.

Step 5: Cut off the corners when you fold in the left flap.

To make a crease, fold in the extra flap of wrapping paper on the left side and press down with your hand.Cut a small triangle of wrapping paper from each corner of the flap with scissors. The crease is where the bottom point of the triangle should be.The crease should be in line with the clothing item.

Step 6: Remove the inside piece of the flap by cutting along the crease.

There are two layers of wrapping paper on the left flap. The crease should be followed by the line of the inner layer.

Step 7: To seal the flap, apply double-sided tape to it.

Attach a piece of double-sided tape to the non-patterned edge of the left flap.To seal the left side of the gift, fold in the flap and smooth the patterned side with your hand.It should close like an envelope.

Step 8: The process should be repeated on the right side.

Cut off the corners after folding the extra paper on the right side.Attach double-sided tape and seal the flap after cutting off the inner layer. It's a good idea to finish off with a ribbon or bow.

Step 9: Roll your item of clothing tightly.

T-shirts, scarves, and jeans are thinner than this and can be rolled tightly. You will need to fold the piece of clothing into a long, skinny rectangular shape and roll it from one end to the other until you have run out of fabric. If you want to make a T-shirt, lay it upside down and flat.Roll it up by folding in both sleeves and starting from the hem.To secure the rolled-up clothing, tie a piece of ribbon or twine around the middle and knot it.The clothing will not be able to be unrolled during the wrapping process.

Step 10: There are three sheets of tissue paper on top of each other.

Three sheets of tissue paper are preferable in three different colors.Pick shades that reflect the occasion, for example reds and greens for Christmas or orange and black for Halloween. It's a good idea to work on a hard surface like a table or countertop.Grease and dirt can stain the tissue paper in your workspace.

Step 11: Place the item inside the tissue paper.

The rolled-up piece of clothing should be placed along the top edge of the tissue paper.Roll the paper around the piece of clothing by grasping the top edge with your fingers. There are a few inches of tissue paper at the bottom. The shorter sides of the tissue paper should be at the top and bottom.

Step 12: Attach the tissue paper with double-sided tape.

Place a strip of double-sided tape vertically across the top of the fold. There is a side of the tape that is facing up.Wrap the end of tissue paper around the rest of the roll. The end piece will be secured by tape.To seal the tape, smooth the tissue paper with your fingers. The tissue paper should be open at both ends.

Step 13: Tie the ends with ribbons.

Each piece of ribbon is about 1 foot long. You can cinch the right side of the tissue paper tube with your fingers.Wrap the ribbon around the spot.Do it with the left side.It is easier to shape wire-edged ribbon.

Step 14: For extra flair, cut each ribbon in half.

You can add a bit of polish to the ends of your ribbons by folding them in half.Using scissors, cut a diagonal line from the wire end to the center of the fold. Then you can see a V-shaped edge.To complete the effect, repeat with the other three ends.

Step 15: The piece of clothing needs to be folded.

You can wrap almost any item of clothing in a gift bag.If you are giving a T-shirt, lay it facing down on a flat surface and fold in both sleeves. To align the collar with the hem of the shirt, fold it back.Roll up your clothing item and secure it with a piece of ribbon or twine.Remove price tags or use a marker to cover the price. The recipients should not know the price of the gift.

Step 16: There are 3 or 4 sheets of tissue paper on the flat surface.

The left edge of each piece of tissue paper should be 2 inches from the sheet below. For a larger item of clothing, use more tissue paper than for a smaller one.If you have a small piece of clothing like a tie or thin tank top, consider using half-size sheets of tissue paper. You can use the same color throughout the paper.

Step 17: Place the gift on top of the tissue paper.

The clothing item should be centered on the top sheet of tissue paper.Pull the tissue paper up and over the item.Pull the corners in with one hand.Attach the paper to the piece of clothing. The tissue paper should be pulled around the clothing like a bag.

Step 18: The gift bag has tissue wrapped clothing in it.

Pick the item up from the bottom to prevent it from ripping. The gift bag should be at least 3 times the size of your clothing item. The tissue paper is sticking out of the bag.Don't overwork the tissue paper, which will make it look old and wrinkled.

Step 19: An extra sheet of tissue paper can be added.

Lift and flick your wrist to create an upside-down cone after pinching the middle of a sheet of tissue paper on a hard surface. If you want it to fit in with the other layers of tissue paper, adjust the corners slightly. You can put a gift tag on one of the handles.
