You can hide messages from your inbox on Facebook.You can see the hidden folder at any time.Don't rely on a new message from the same friend to hide an ongoing conversation, it will pop the whole conversation back to your inbox.
Step 1: You can visit the main message screen.
Go to your Facebook account.You can see your inbox on Facebook.Click the Messages icon at the top of the page if you want to see all.
Step 2: You can choose the conversation.
The conversation can be found in the left pane.
Step 3: You can click the icon.
There is a conversation in the center pane.
Step 4: You can select the archive.
Clicking the cogwheel opens a menu.You can move the messages to a hidden folder by selecting Archive from the list.The old message will move back to your inbox if the same person contacts you again.Click Other at the top of your list to find this message again.Go to the drop-down menu.
Step 5: You can use the mouseover options instead.
It is possible to archive conversations without opening them.You can hide the one you want to hide by scrolling through your list and hovering over it.There is a small X near the right edge of the box.You can archive the message by clicking this X.
Step 6: A message can be deleted permanently.
It is possible to permanently remove a message from your inbox.Select a conversation from the main Messages screen if you're sure you want to do this.The Actions icon is at the top of the screen.This looks like a wheel.You can remove messages from the drop-down menu.Click the button next to the message you want to remove.The pop-up confirmation window has a message in it.You can remove a entire conversation from the Actions menu.
Step 7: Messages can be hidden on a browser.
Log on to Facebook with any browser on a mobile device.To hide a message, tap the Messages icon.You want to hide the conversation.There is a Tap Archive.
Step 8: Don't send messages from a non-smartphone.
If you have a mobile browser on your phone, you can use these instructions.You can open a conversation.You can choose an action.You can select the archive.Select Apply.
Step 9: You can use the app on the phone.
If you have a Facebook Messenger app on your phone, you can send and receive messages.Go to the Facebook app on your phone and tap the speech bubble icon.Hold the conversation if you want to hide it.There is a Tap Archive.
Step 10: It can be done from your device.
This can be used on an iPad.If you haven't already, open your Facebook app and download the Facebook Messenger app.The Messenger icon is at the bottom of the screen.This appears to be a lightning bolt.You want to hide the conversation.You can tap more.There is a Tap Archive.
