How you can fix Energizer batteries with red and green lights.

My digital camera has an appetite for AA's so I decided to save some jack and get a bunch of NiMH batteries. The charger is flashing a red light when it is supposed to be solid.I looked up the data sheet and it was obvious that these were not good for thousands of cycles.AA 1700 mAh can be charged up to 1000 times according to their FAQ.I've used them for about a year and have thrown the packaging.Do I need a receipt if they have a warranty?I'm going to need a lot of things.

A 30-minute charge on NiMH cells is going to absolutely cook them. For thirty minutes, a hundred cycles sounds about right, perhaps even optimistic, as most 1-hour chargers are still going to significantly cut the number of useful cycles. At 30 minutes, you should point a desk fan across the cells.

At 30 minutes, you should at least point a desk fan across the cells. You would think they'd mention that. They are too hot to hold in your hand if you pull them out as soon as they are charged.Do you have any recommendations on a good charge?I don't need fast.I think I've told you this before, but you rock. Thanks for the knowledge.

Some batteries are better than others. The Maha MH-C204W is arguably the best one that they make, it will charge your batteries to 98% of their capacity in 60 minutes, and has a 4-stage charge. The model that I have has 4-independent charging circuits, while this model only has 2, so I think it's just marketing BS.Since you're likely to keep the pairs together, the difference won't really matter.

It's possible to be charged up to 1000 times with a good charger that doesn't cook the cells.I wouldn't be surprised if they got 100 cycles with those things that plug into a wall.

I have the old 12 hour charge for my NiMH cells, and I don't think they sell it anymore. They're cool to touch the whole thing.

You can get the model that I have.It does both NiMH and NiCd.It has a fast and slow mode.1.5 hours and 5 hours. The batteries are not so hot that you can't handle them. They get a little warm in the Slow mode. Each battery gets the optimal amount of charging with the model that has 4 independendent charging circuits. The down-side is that it doesn't have the "ramp-up" charging to revive old cells, but it does have a low 50mA trickle charge.

Maha's pretty much the standard.Good stuff, reasonably priced.I think I've told you this before, but you rock. Thanks for the knowledge.Thank you.My pleasure.

Warm cells are needed for a good charge.A change in the cell's internal resistance is what the charger needs to detect a peak.If the charger didn't detect a peak and you want to build your own, you can get a free sample of 1s and 2s.

Sometimes it says the batteries I put in are bad.I used to go through 8x AAs a day in my camera, now in 15 minutes I can go all day long and sometimes into the second day.

I rarely get more than 500 cycles out of my AA's.I bought a Maha C-204F and four Maha PowerEx 2000mAh's back in the day. They replaced some Olympus NiMH AA's that only lasted 300 to 500 cycles, and the Maha had 500.I'm used to NiCd's which didn't last as long, but 30 minute chargers get batteries pretty damned hot.

I ordered a Maha charge and 12 AA's.I got a free Caller-ID unit.Hopefully they'll keep flying.Thank you guys.

I got one of these suckers and it says the batteries I put in are ".I used to go through 8x AAs a day in my camera, now in 15 minutes I can go all day long and sometimes into the second day.I thought I had a bad'slot' on the charger, but they still flash the light no matter which slot I put them in.

I did the same thing. My camera would die if I took 13 pictures. One of the batteries lost its charge immediately, while the other three seemed to be fine.I got the Maha C 204W and I'm wondering if it was a cheap Energizer charge that did it as the batteries weren't used all that much. We'll see if it works better.

The 2500mAh batteries should last for at least 10 hours.

One of my energies went bad. This thing probably had less than 10 charges, I'll stick to sanyo/maha.

For a few seconds, slam it.A big shock can sort a NiMH out.If you give it a full cycle with rapid discharge, you should get around 85% capacity back.NiCds are not NiMHs.I charge in half an hour for my 2200mAh Energizers and they're knocked on a few years now, last I put them in at 1950mAh capacity.
