Hydrogen Peroxide is used to bleach hair.

Most commercial hair dyes include hydrogen peroxide. It is a cheap, easy way to make your hair look better. There is a chance of damaging your hair or getting an unnatural looking result if you go for a home bleach or dye process. If you are going to make a dramatic change or your hair is already damaged or discolored, you should see a hairdresser.

Step 1: Start with hair that's healthy.

The results can be affected by old hair dye.In the weeks leading up to the bleaching, don't dye or process your hair.If your hair is strong and unprocessed, bleach will work better and cause less damage. If your hair is damaged, you should go to a salon.Use a natural cleanser and conditioner to strengthen your hair.Sulfates can dry out your hair.Don't use hair sprays, gels, and other hair products.Don't use a straight iron, blow dryer, or other appliance to heat your hair.

Step 2: Pick out your supplies.

You will need the following materials to bleach your hair.Set them up on a table in your kitchen or bathroom with a 3% hydrogen peroxide solution. You risk hair loss if you apply higher than 3%.Not enjoyable! There is a spray bottle. You can either buy a new one at the drugstore or use an old one.If you use an old one, wash it out.Store the peroxide in a dark bottle and away from light. There are hair clips. There are cotton balls.A towel. There are gloves. If you plan to do highlights, you should use aluminum foil.If you plan to bleach your hair, you need a shower cap.

Step 3: You need to wash and condition your hair.

On the day you plan to bleach your hair, wash and condition it as normal to make sure the oils and grime caused by natural wear and styling products don't interfere with the peroxide.A good natural conditioner is required. If you bleach your hair, it can dry out, and a conditioner will protect it.Allow your hair to be air-dried instead of blow drying it.If you want to keep it from dripping, comb it out gently, and let it dry for thirty minutes. The hydrogen peroxide will be better if the hair is a little wet.

Step 4: The strand test is done.

Take a small section from the underside of your hair and apply a cotton ball. After a few minutes, check it.If you want to rinse it out with cold water, you can leave it in for up to 30 minutes. If you pay attention to the amount of time it takes to get the desired color, you can determine how long to leave the peroxide on the rest of your hair. It's important to do a strand test to make sure your hair isn't damaged.

Step 5: Put clips in your hair.

You can bleach your hair with claw clips if you section off some of it.Sectioning your hair will make it easier to treat your locks. The claw clip method is the best way to bleach. It takes more time, but it looks more professional. The first section of hair is what you want to treat. As you go, you'll unclip further sections.

Step 6: The highlights should be applied to the sections.

If you want to bring out natural highlights, apply peroxide with a cotton ball. There is a cotton ball. The hair is about 4 inch thick.Start at the roots and work your way down to the tips with the cotton ball.If you want to keep the peroxide out of the rest of your hair, Wrap each hair section in a piece of tin foil.If you want to do face framing highlights, just do a few sections towards the front of your face.

Step 7: You can use peroxide to the bottom half of your hair.

Near the ends of your hair is where you want to apply the peroxide. You can use a cotton ball to apply peroxide to your hair.If you want to avoid a horizontal line through your hair, apply the peroxide to a different spot on each strand of hair. You should aim to apply it near the middle of the strand. You can go up the strands of hair as you please, but make sure to begin the application at your ends.As you move up towards your roots, the color of the tips will fade into a darker shade.

Step 8: You can use a spray bottle to apply peroxide.

To bleach all of your hair, use a spray bottle.Run a comb through your hair multiple times after spraying it.Attach the clipped sections of your hair again.Put on a shower cap to keep the peroxide out of your clothes.

Step 9: Leave the hydrogen peroxide in your hair for about 30 minutes.

Depending on how dark your hair is, how light you want it, and how much irritation the chemical may cause, you'll want to experiment and play with it.You can use your strand test to figure out how long to leave the peroxide in your hair. You can either need a few minutes or the full 30 minutes. If you used the shower cap, remove it when you are ready to rinse.

Step 10: Apply conditioner after washing your hair.

You can rinse your hair with cool water to add shine. Some of the lost water will be restored by the conditioner. You should add another coat of deep conditioner to your hair. It's a good idea to massage it into your hair. It's time to rinse it out with water.Allow your hair to air dry, then style it as you please.

Step 11: You can lighten your hair by repeating the process.

The first time you use the treatment, your hair may be a little lighter. If you want to lighten your hair more, you will have to repeat the treatment. If you repeat this process in smaller amounts every day for a week, your hair will become lighter and you won't have to use a whole bottle of hydrogen peroxide. The final color is dependent on what color your hair was to start out with.If you have dark hair, it might look a bit more orange at first.Continue the treatment and your hair will appear blonde.

Step 12: The process can be sped up by applying gentle heat.

If you want to speed up the lightening process, use a hair dryer on a low setting.Take your hair dryer to a low heat setting and strand it all over your head.Until your hair is lighter, do this.It is best to use heat if you have bleached your hair before and have a good idea of how it will turn out.Don't use a hair dryer if you're not sure.If you want to see how the peroxide affects your hair, go slow.

Step 13: You should wash your hair less.

Don't wash your hair.Natural oils are taken out when you wash your hair.Try not to wash your hair more than once a week and use a dry cleanser to keep it fresh.

Step 14: A violet-tinted conditioner can be used a few times a week.

Any yellow tones in your hair will be controlled by this. You can buy violet conditioners at beauty stores.

Step 15: Cut back on the heat treatments.

Don't blow dry your hair. The heating tools can make the damage worse, so only use them once a week or less.Use a hair dryer on a lower setting if you want to use heat free styling methods.

Step 16: Pull your hair back.

Don't rub your hair with a towel after showering, and let it air dry as often as possible.Give your hair a gentle squeeze with the towel and leave it for a while. When brushing your hair, start from the ends and go slowly to avoid breaking your strands.
