Is Gatorade good or bad for people with Diabetes?

It has 14 grams of carbohydrates, but are they simple or complex?I don't know if I like Gatorade since the diagnosis.

Sports drinks, energy drinks and processed fruit juices are not recommended for people with diabetes.Colas are bad, except diet colas.Many people think artificial sweeteners are bad for you, but when used in moderation, there is no problem.You will die quicker from eating sugar than from using artificial sweeteners.

Control of all sugars is required of the person with diabetes.Sports drinks, energy drinks and colas are not good for you.If you want to have more room in your diet for things like a piece of bread or a plate of spaghetti, you need to take these drinks completely.

My son drinks sports drinks.He has had diabetes since he was 7 years old.He finds that drinking during a workout keeps him from getting too low, because he is very involved in sports.

My experience with my son is that 14 grams of high fructose carbs doesn't do anything crazy to his blood sugar level.

If you want to see if anything dramatic happens, you should have a gatorade and test your sugar a few times over the course of several hours.

I don't think it's realistic to expect someone with diabetes to avoid all sugars and live a normal life.

I don't like all of the other posters.Powerade is ok in moderation.You need to plan for it, even if you're on tablets.When I have low blood sugar, I usually have powerade or gatorade.My type 1 diabetes has been under control for the last 3 years and I drink around 1-2 bottles of the ADE drinks a week.As long as you understand the idea of portion control and moderation, there's nothing you can't do as a diabetes patient.

When I needed to get sugar quickly, the only time I would drink is when I was experiencing a very bad low.There are better products that can be used for this purpose.It's too high in sugar.Good sugar is what I'm concerned about.There is no good sugar for a person with diabetes.

It's possible to have this once and awhile if you take the insulin.It is ridiculous to not have something that you enjoy.It will make you want to eat poorly if you are so strict on yourself.

I avoided gatorade because I didn't want to take in so much of the drink.I keep small bottles on hand to treat low blood sugar episodes with the new G2 lighter version.I always treat with 15g of fast acting carbs in the bottles.I treat myself to G2 instead of drinking juice or eating tabs.

Adult onset of type 2 diabetes is when your body doesn't use it properly.The right diet and exercise can be used to treat this type.You can read here.

If blood sugars aren't kept under control, there will probably be integrated and oral medications available.People with diabetes can live long, happy lives but must be careful in their care and make sure they see their doctor on a regular basis.
