Is it true that Toronto only has two seasons winter and construction

No, it’s a bit of a joke among locals—black humor if you will—because there is definitely a LOT of construction around the city, including in the winter, and moving around the city can be challenging.Part of this high level of construction activity is due to the fact that the GTA has more than 100k new residents moving in annually, fuelling the need for new housing of all types, from single family homes to high rise condo buildings.Part of this is due to the fact that we put off building new rapid transit for many years and now have the cross town LRT project in addition to other projects underway as we try and catch up.

And part of this is due to our climate, with frequent freezing and thawing throughout the winter, causing pot holes in the pavement and a seemingly endless cycle of road repair.
