Is metallic paint a conductor? - AnswersConductive Paint : 10 Steps ( with Pictures) - Instructables.

The goal of the experiment was to find an alternative to the commercially available paint. It is very expensive.Makerboat's $1 Conductive Ink and IceCats' Paper Electronics are some of the things I've read.I think my testing is more reliable because they helped me arrive at my own recipe, which uses only two ingredients.

The consistency of the powder was spreadable after it was mixed with Glue-All.If you squeeze the bottle, it will shoot a blast of air into the jar and the powder will blow everywhere. The third picture shows this.

Two lines were drawn with a toothpick. One thin line and one thick line. The toothpick was wiped off the jar and allowed to dry next to the lines.

Think Geek sells Wire Glue. The toothpick was used to stir the wire glue.

The lines were not as bulky because the Wire Glue was runnier.A higher resistance is achieved by less material being put down.

Two zip ties were tightened around the test probes to make sure the samples were tested uniformly. The probe tips were the same distance for each test.

When painted with a toothpick, the most conductive material in this sample set is the acrylic paint. The materials are inexpensive. The prices of the paint and powder are the same. The prices are in US Dollars.

The Wire Glue(tm), which has the next highest conductivity, has a lower viscosity so it could be used with custom pen nibs. The Wire Glue(tm) was inconvenient to apply and store-bought pen nibs were used in the experiment.

There is an unabridged version of this project with videos that show the viscosity of the samples that I talk about on my website. There is a device that allows you to hear temperatures and a keyboard from inside your pockets.

I came across this after making my own experimental "paint" using a variety of powders and glues. The combination of graphite andcharcoal is better than either of it's own.I'm pretty sure the glue is the same as the paint binder, but it's not waterproof when dry.I ground the charcoal powder with a pestle and mortar and used a ratio of 2 to 1 charcoal, 2 glue and 2 water.A reading of Megaohms over a similar distance to your test is how the initial result is disappointing.I will take a proper test tomorrow, I hope I can get good results.Through hole plating of PCBs is my purpose.

Do you think using metal powders would work? Why is Graphene the best material for making paint?

It was 8 months ago.

Graphene and copper may cause issues with degradation but are valid points.

The powder is easy to buy.Metal powders can be dangerous if they get on your skin.If you are careful, they may provide better conductivity.

This is very experimental, but would it work for metal plating?

Some people have tried using this recipe but it doesn't hold up well in water since it's not meant to be submerged.White glue is not a good choice.Silicone is so thick you will lose detail even if it does work.

Thanks a lot for the feedback!I won't need to submerge it fully so I'll give it a go on a scrap piece when I can.

I used the mix to protect the guitars.I measured in various pockets between 500 and 1k Ohm after the first coat.I don't know if that's "Faraday" enough.

I used 9g of the substance on the paint. The paint was just under 3 for a 15ml jar, and I was able to get the graphite on eBay for 1.

The paint is good for hard to reach areas or as a base coat before you put down the copper. From all the videos I've seen the paint doesn't do much either way.

The powder substance used in the paint is usually carbon or graphite, which makes the color boring. Is magnesium safe to use to make paint?

There are a number of things that can be used.I don't think powdered metal is safe.

There are health risks and flammability risks when working with powdered metal.

Is it safe for the rear window in cars? The general consensus is that there are larger gaps in the grid because of high resistance.I would like to try it, but I'm worried it would be too much.I've put Primer on the lines which is hard to get off, then go over with Conductive paint and see if it acts as an insulator between glass and heat.

I would be confident enough to try it in my own car, even though I can't guarantee it will be safe.I think the resistance of this paint would be higher than the traces of the original paint, so you might end up with a cool spot, but that's not as bad as the whole strip remaining nonfunctional.Let us know if it works.

I have been testing the existing grid and it gives me 3 at the furthest distance on a complete line.It should do the job over small breaks.I will have a go soon, it will be a lot cheaper than wasting paint.

I might be a bit late to the party, but I'm looking for a "DIY" version of winter gloves. It's difficult to find conductive thread in my country. The goal is to make a glove that can be used with a cellphone in cold weather.Do you think painting the fingers of a pair of wool gloves with this mix will work?I bet you have to make the paint go through the fabric in order to conduct correctly.
