Is my door frame sturdy enough for a pull up bar?

Is my door frame sturdy enough for a pull up bar?

The top frame of your door is designed to support a specific amount of weight. Hang on it through your fingers for some time and you will know if it can support your weight or not. Try doing some pull ups while at it. If you do not feel any cracking sounds, then it should be good to go.

How thick should pull up bars be?

1.25″ is the standard size for pull-up bars. Anything thinner than that may end up causing you some stability and/or durability issues. A slightly bigger bar won't make that noticeable of a difference until you get up around a 2″ diameter which is standard for a fat grip bar aka thick bar.Oct 12, 2021
