IsPepperdine a good university? Is it an Ivy League school?

I got into Penn and Duke, but I am worried about the academics and the opportunities at other schools. What can anyone say?I joined regents./p>

Is there a Grad school placement? There are job opportunities for Harvard/Stanford MBA or PhD.Do you think the top students can compare their jobs with the Ivies? Is it possible to transfer back to Duke or Penn if I don't like it the first year?/li>

WOW!The group is nice to pick from.I think most of us don't know much about east coast schools. My chance at it is here.Penn and Duke have been around for a long time. When they began to move up on the rankings, they were new to the malibu campus. My guess is that when you visited Pepperdine, you were drawn to the small community feel, because Duke and Penn are larger schools. The campus is welcoming and has a great view.If you are not from California, just visiting can be a great experience.

Duke and Penn with their reps are definite draws, but Pepperdine is forging it's way out west.If you are going to graduate school, you need to do some research. To get a feel for where their grads are headed, check their grad stat, contact the dept chairs at each school in the major you are planning to focus on, andGood luck!

I'm from a small southern town and I can't imagine going to a big Eastern school.I think that Pepperdine is a better fit for me because of my faith and personality.I think it's important to find a school that suits you, not just a brand-name school. The highest-ranking Christian school is Pepperdine.

I brought this up because my D will have to choose between Duke and Pepperdine.A 4 day visit by the "Black Student Alliance" really solid her on Duke, and she will only have the four hour "admitted students day" at Pepp to compare it with, is one of my concerns.I hope it can do the job.

Shrinkrap, I am aware that you were looking for a college to send your daughter to.I think Duke's history might be of interest to you.I would have a hard time turning down Duke.It is for sure that the schools are very different. One way or the other, I think the visit to Pepperdine will solidify your daughter's decision. It will take four hours to see the campus.Your daughter has some great choices.

I found Duke to be more diverse than other schools I've been to.Duke is an example of a school that splits along the lines of haves and have-nots.There is a warm and inclusive campus atmosphere at Pepperdine. The majority there are haves, as they are at Duke, but students make an effort so that nobody feels excluded.

Thanks to both of you!Paying full price for Duke seems to be a better deal for me and my dad.I am aware that may be unfair.Santa Clara, where she got a nice scholarship, is the fourth choice. She doesn't seem to be thinking about the 6 UC's she got into.

P.S.I'm aware of the segregation thing, but I feel bad about raising my daughter in a suburb because she hasn't met many Blacks outside of our family. She was blown away by the number of people she met at Duke.

Duke has an interesting history of successful women, just that your daughter was interested in a women's school.

Ah!She was accepted to Mills and Spelmsn, but had no interest, so I'm not sure about the appeal of Scripps. She absolutely loved the girls she met at their diversity invite, but those girls will have a lot of options, so who knows where they will end up.

Santa Clara has a nice scholarship. There is a lot of diversity. There is another inclusive student body. There are lots of internship options in Silicon Valley.

Although the other school I am considering is not nearly as prestigious as Penn or Duke, I believe I will eventually end up at Pepperdine.I will share some of my thoughts on the issue.According to the rankings, Duke and Penn are better, but I hear that Pepperdine offers more personalized attention. It will be easy for your professors to get to know you because it is a much smaller school than either Duke or Penn and it sounds like your academics are above average for Pepperdine. If you want to get into a prestigious grad school, I think it's a good idea to be at the top of your class at Pepperdine.I understand how people are drawn to the Ivies and other comparable schools; however, I think that in the end the education you receive at other schools can be just as good, so long as you make the most of it.

Both Duke and UPenn are great schools.Thank you for getting in!I think you have to think about your major.Penn and Duke are larger than Pepperdine, so you may not get as much individual attention. This can be either a good or bad thing.I think it depends on your intended major.LA and Santa Monica have the same reputation as Penn and Duke.Another thing to consider is the fact that at Pepperdine school ends late April (correct me if I'm wrong), meaning you'll be the first one out there to go look for an internship as opposed to waiting till late June like most universities.

Pepperdine works with students from sophomore year to help them build toward internship programs throughout the LA area. There is a great semester program in DC with internship opportunities in the politcal arena. My friends have internships./p>
