Legally Blonde is a musical with music and lyrics by O'Keefe and Benjamin and a book by Hach.The 2001 film of the same name was based on the novel Legally Blonde.The story is about a girl who enrolls at Harvard Law School to win back her ex-boyfriend.She learns how her knowledge of the law can help others, and she defends an exercise queen in a murder trial.Most of the characters in the show don't have faith in Elle Woods, but she manages to surprise them when she defies expectations and stays true to herself.
There were pre-Broadway tries for Legally Blonde in San Francisco.The show opened to mixed reviews and poor sales on Broadway.Jerry Mitchell directed and choreographed.Laura Bell Bundy, Christian Borle, and Richard H.Blake were in the original cast.It was nominated for seven Tonys and ten Drama Desks, but did not win any.The Savoy Theatre hosted the West End production.The Best New Musical award was won by the West End production.
The musical aired on MTV in October 2007.A reality television show showed the auditioning process for the next person to play Elle Woods on Broadway.Bailey Hanks played the role from July 23, 2008 to October 19, 2008.Hanks's understudy was Autumn Hurlbert.[3]

The snobby classmates disapprove of her attire, and the only person who is willing to help her is a law-teaching assistant.He can't protect her from the professor.The under-prepared Elle was kicked out of class by the suggestion of her classmates, who happened to be Warner's new girlfriend.The sisters of Delta Nu acted as a Greek chorus and encouraged her to stay positive.She decided to become a brunette because she thought being blonde was the problem.After talking out of her hair-dye plan, she goes to the Hair Affair salon where she meets the friendly hairdresser, who tells her that when she is down she puts on her favorite CD, Celtic Moods, and dreams of Ireland.There is an unexpected invitation to a costume party at the salon.There is a costume for the party with lyrics of encouragement.
As she walked into the party as a Playboy Bunny, she realized that she was tricked as no one else was wearing a costume.Despite this, she still seeks out Warner in an effort to win him back.Elle runs from the party, only to meet a man who doesn't understand her love problems.It is her obsession with Warner that keeps her from earning his respect.She defeats Warner in a classroom debate because she no longer needed to please him.In order to get her dog back from Paulette's ex-boyfriend, Elle uses legal jargon and demonstrates she is beginning to understand law.Warner and Vivienne win two of Callahan's coveted internship positions, and Warner proposes to Vivienne on the spot right in front of Elle.The two of them kiss.The internship list shows that Elle got an internship position as well.She doesn't need a man to feel accepted in the world, she just needs to believe in herself.Warner exclaimed that she was overjoyed, she excitedly called her mother to tell her the news, and she looked forward to the trial.
Brooke Wyndham and her fitness team's workout video is being viewed by many people.The legal team was told that Brooke is accused of murdering her husband.The legal team can't get Brooke to tell them her alibi because she refuses to plead guilty.If the public finds out that Brooke was getting plastic surgery, it could destroy her fitness empire.She promised not to tell anyone.Because of their loyalty to their client and refusal to state the alibi, the group shuns them."Take It Like A Man" was given to Emmett to cheer him up and increase his chances of impressing Callahan.
When Kyle walks into the salon to deliver a package to Paulette, he leaves her in awe, but her low self-confidence prevents her from making a move.When they pick up the package, they are summoned by Paulette's amazing "Bend and snap".When she tries to turn Kyle on with the "Bend and snap" dance move, she breaks his nose.
At the trial, Brooke's pool boy claims to have been having an affair with her, giving her a motive for murdering her husband.After doing the bend and snap in front of Nikos and getting no response, she suspects that he is gay.Her colleagues think that his flamboyance might be a cultural difference.Emmett was able to make Nikos slip that his boyfriend's name is Carlos, even though he claims that he misunderstood "boyfriend" for "best friend".Carlos proclaims his homosexuality from the gallery after being fed up with the closeted nature of his gay boyfriend.He admits that he is gay and European.Right there!Is it gay or European?)
The interns celebrate in the office.Warner doesn't like calling a legal victory a finely tuning awareness of homosexuality.Warner was sent out of the room to get a coffee.Emmett and the other interns were dismissed by Callahan but he asked them to stay for a few moments.The person slaps the other person.In turn, Callahan fires her.The kiss can be seen through the door of the room.Warner was the only one to witness the slap.Warner re-enters the office and mocks Elle, but Vivienne tells him to stop, and they both leave.A defeated Elle prepares to go home despite Emmett asking her to stay, finally realizing that he is in love with her.
Elle heads to the Hair Affair to say goodbye to her friend, but before she can leave, she needs to be convinced.She doesn't wear a navy suit and leads a parade back to the courtroom.They meet Kyle on the way and he reveals himself to be Irish, prompting everyone to dance.Brooke hired Elle at the trial.After she got out of the shower, Brooke was covered in her father's blood, according to her testimony.The scene of the crime should be moved to the bathroom where the murder took place because of a flaw in Chutney's alibi.As a demonstration, Paulette asks Enid to give a perm and to step into the shower after entering the crime scene.As Enid walks out of the shower with completely flattened hair, she discovers that Chutney could not have showered immediately because her perm was still intact.Chutney confessed that she killed her father because she thought it was Brooke.Brooke is set free after she was arrested.
Warner was dumped by Vivienne.Elle claims to have been changed by the experience.Three years later, she is the dictorian of her class.She decided to allow Paulette to play "Where Are They Now" during her speech because she didn't want her to brag about her valedictorian status.According to Paulette, Warner dropped out of school to pursue a modeling career, while Enid practices family law, and Vivienne is training for the Peace Corps.The wife of a man who ran for governor hired a divorce lawyer.Paulette has two kids and is pregnant with a third.There is a new salon in Massachusetts where they live, and the detail that was taken from the London script was replaced with a child's name.At the end of the graduation, there is an engagement and an acceptance.
During its run in San Francisco, the musical included a song called "Love and War", but during its transfer to Broadway the song was replaced with something else."Positive" was preceded by "Beacon of Positivity".[5]
The song "Good Boy" was a part of the musical's workshop stage.Men are like dogs and should therefore be treated as such, according to the song.

The West End production used an orchestra that included three keyboards, bass, guitar, drums, percussion, two woodwind parts and two trumpets.The conductor plays the first keyboard part.The bass part doubles on electric, double, fretless, and 5- string bass.The guitar doubles on electric, acoustic, nylon- string, hollow Body archtop and 12-string guitars.The second part doubles on flute, clarinet, and baritone sax.Both trumpets and trombones double on the flugelhorn.
The first United States national tour was without the violin and with slightly different reed doublings.The first player doubled on saxophone, clarinet, flute, piccolo, oboulous, and English horn, while the second player did the same.
The original Broadway production had a French horn, viola and cello, a second guitar, and three woodwinds instead of two.The first and second parts of the reed doubled on clarinet, flute, piccolo, and pennywhistle.
Legally Blonde did a short tryout at the Golden Gate Theatre in San Francisco in January and February of 2007, before going to Broadway.After previews began on April 3, 2007, Legally Blonde opened on Broadway at the Palace Theatre.The production was directed and choreographed by Jerry Mitchell, with set design, costume design and lighting design by Kenneth Posner and Paul Miller.The original Broadway cast included Laura Bell Bundy in the lead role, as well as Christian Borle, Orfeh, and Michael Rupert.The show was nominated for seven Tony Awards, including Best Original Score and Best Leading Actress in a Musical, but did not win any.[8]

On January 10, 2011, Susan McFadden took over from Sheridan Smith.Carley Stenson replaced McFadden on July 11, 2011.Other notable replacements were Richard Fleeshman, Ben Freeman, Stephen Ashfield and Carley Stenson.[28]

The first UK tour began in July of 2011.The cast included Dave Willetts and Iwan Lewis.Liz was the first to play Paulette.30
Matthew Kelly and Les Dennis played professors after Willets.Stephen Ashfield reprised his role as Emmett just weeks after leaving the show in London, but Amy Lennox replaced him for the Aberdeen run of the tour.On July 17, 2012 there were two new people in charge of Warner and Paulette.
The Australian production began previews in September of 2012 and opened in October of that year.
Lucy Durack played Elle Woods, Rob Mills played Warner, David Harris played Emmett, Erika Heynatz played Brooke Wyndham, and Helen Dallimore played Paulette, as well as returning to the Australian stage for the first time in 20 years to play Professor Callahan.[31]
The production ended at the Princess Theatre in July.The show won five Helpmann Awards.[33]

Legally Blonde was going to premiere in Israel in February 2020.The cast included Ania Bukstein as Elle Woods, Oz Zehavi as Emmett, Sassi Keshet as Professor Callahan, Hana Laszlo as Paulette, and Mei Finegold as Brooke.
There was a production at the Curve Theatre.The cast included a contestant from the X-Factor, as well as Ian and Tupele, and Jon and Danny.

The musical received mixed reviews, but was praised for being fun and upbeat.Ben Brantley wrote in The New York Times that the musical was a "high-energy, empty-calories, and expensive-looking hymn to the glories of girlishness".He said, "she sings and dances flawless, and she delivers silly lines as if she meant them."In his New York Post review, Clive Barnes praised Heather Hach's book but criticized the "amorphous, synthetic, and maniacally empty-headed music".The musical was an "ingratiating trifle", and the game cast ensured that the proceedings, however patronizing, aren't irritating."The musical doesn't summon memories of Tracy Flick, the steely student-council campaigner that Reese Witherspoon played in Election before starring in Legally Blonde," wrote Jeremy McCarter in New York Magazine.[56]
Positive reviews were received for the West End production.Benedict Nightingale wrote in The Times that welcome dance embraces everything from skipping with ropes to spoof Riverdance.Two cute, unnaturally obedient dogs are supported by a fake-Greek chorus dressed as cheerleaders.Legally Blonde is fun.The show was called "Ridiculously enjoyable from start to finish" by Paul Taylor.[58]
The show received some negative feedback."It is a great big empty vessel of a show that makes a lot of noise and not much else, and would have been better entitled 'Irredeemably Bland'," wrote Tim Walker in The Sunday Telegraph.I knew that for the entire two hours and 25 minutes that it was running, I was sitting among a group of people with empty smiles on their faces.That was how I looked as well.When what one is seeing doesn't match what is happening in one's brain, it is the expression that register.[57]
