Gathering your supplies is the first step in any repair.This is not a replacement repair, so you don't need to worry about getting an exact replacement part, but this could get messy.All of your supplies are ready to be used to prevent or clean up water mess along the way.You will need a bucket, towels, and hose to deal with the water.You will need tools to access the problem.A friend may be able to help with heavy lifting.
It is time to clean the washing machine.Pull your washer away from the wall.You will need to get to the back to turn off the water.The drain pump can be accessed from the back of the washer, but through the front panel.If you have to, ask a friend to help.To prevent scratching the floor, consider using a towel or cardboard.
Plugging your washer from the wall is the next step.This should be easier if the washer is pulled forward.Don't fix an appliance that is still plugged in.The risk of electric shock is eliminated by cutting the power.
There are two water valves in the wall behind the washer.No new water from the wall can add to your non-draining washer mess, so this will shut off the water.You don't have to connect the water line hoses.

The tub-side might be the location of the clog if it isn't near the drain hose.To catch falling water, remove the other side of the internal drain hose.The drain hose should be checked inside and out.The small article of clothing should be found in one of these places.
It is time to put your washer back together after your soggy socks or underpants have been released from the drain assembly.Attach the pulley belt to the drain pump by connecting the ends of the internal drain line.Put the washer front panel back on top and then slide it into place on the bottom.Remove the paint cans, turn the water back on, and restore the power.Your washer is ready to be tested after a few nudgings.
